Yesterday we saw great minds come together from around the four states to learn and strengthen their knowledge about blueprint reading and commercial estimating.  In the morning session, 40 attendees heard from Danks Burton owner of Pinnacle Masonry who has over 30 years of estimating experience on how to read blueprints. In the afternoon session, we broke into groups, read blueprints and did take offs on several types of buildings with prizes for the top three groups. #concretemasonry #masonrystrong

Southeast Concrete Masonry Association used Concrete Masonry Checkoff Region 2 University Program dollars in making a difference. Today was WeBuild Camp at Isothermal Community College..... 30 girls (4th-7th grade) over three sessions exposing them to Masonry for the first time.  We started out with Anna “Masonry Girl” Champion on why she got into Masonry and her many trophies/awards. We walked through the Three Little Pigs story. We did a demonstration on how Masonry doesn’t burn. We demonstrated how mix mortaring was like making a cake and the purpose of it. We did the LEGO Group demonstration on how the blocks work together. We explained how Masonry keeps them safe while they slept, while attending church, while going to school and even showcased the Masonry buildings where their mom and dad works.  We gave them time for hands on of laying CMU and brick. Super cool! We finished up giving them all a miniature painted CMU from Besser Company!
