Having our Co-Founder, Angela Ruggiero, be selected to host this incredible evening is validation that the world of sport continues to collide with the world of advertising technology. For too long, sports has relied on its standing as "the most valuable live media in the world" and not kept pace with the data and technology advancements of other sectors. That's why Sports Innovation Lab was founded: to help brands, agencies, and sports properties keep pace with the evolving fans and tap into the data and technology that is becoming imperative to do so. Last night was an honor and validation that these worlds are more connected than ever, and we're excited to continue leading the charge ahead! 🔥

As I traveled to Barclays Center on Sunday to support our now WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) Champion NY LIBERTY, I was struck by the overwhelming sea of fans sporting Liberty gear. It was literally a sea of seafoam, and it made me reflect on a recent panel I had the privilege of organizing through my role at WISE NYC Metro (Women in Sports and Events). Despite the incredible fandom surrounding women’s sports, there’s a staggering $40 billion merchandise gap for women’s fans. This gap was highlighted in the report #RepHer, powered by Klarna, TOGETHXR and Sports Innovation Lab which urges the industry to address the systemic barriers in the women’s sports merchandise market. A huge thank you to the panelists and trailblazers Gina Waldhorn, Kimberly Mason, Allie Phelan (Weiller), and our moderator Tajay Ashmeade for sharing their insights on this crucial topic. Innovation & Marketing Leader. ADWEEK's 2024 Champion of Change. Entrepreneur's 50 Most Daring Entrepreneurs 2017.
Networking groups matter. Thank you WISE NYC Metro (Women in Sports and Events) New York chapter for hosting the brilliant Allie Phelan (Weiller), Kimberly Mason, and Tajay Ashmeade for a lively morning discussion last month about the $4 BILLION opportunity in women's sports merchandise. You can see from my expression I loved getting INTO IT and talking about pushing manufacturers to take bigger bets on merch, empowering smaller leagues with creative license, and using data to prove the market potential. But one of the biggest takeaways....the power of groups like WISE to motivate and connect women. It sometimes may seem like a grog to get on that subway, plane, or even zoom for something "that's just networking" or "more thought leadership" - but every time I do, I'm so glad I did. I meet lovely, inspiring people, I have interesting conversations, and I leave on a work high feeling part of something bigger than my lonely back-room zoom existence. Thank you WISE!

It was an inspiring morning at the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF)'s thought-provoking OTT event: “Today’s Dynamic Media Landscape: What’s Next?” where our very own Jennifer Pelino kicked off the day with a breakfast conversation on Women & Sports: Audience, Brand, & Cultural Impact. And who better to join that conversation some of the best athletes IN THE WORLD: Olympic medalist in Artistic Swimming Anita Kay A., and 3X World Surf League Longboard Champion Soleil Errico! The medals were in the house, and the data-driven insights were flowing! #womenssports #thefanproject #sportsdata #ARFOTT2024
