The County's rich history and idyllic beaches make for the perfect tourist destination. Recent studies place St. Johns County as one of the fastest-growing counties in Florida, including job and income growth. St. Johns County serves two incorporated cities, St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach, along with unincorporated communities, including Ponte Vedra, Hastings, Switzerland, Crescent Beach, Tocoi, Bakersville, Picolatta, Orangedale, Fruit Cove, Summer Haven, and Vilano Beach. _____ St. Johns County is governed by five elected Commissioners, each representing one of the five County districts, serving four-year terms. St. Johns County registered voters elect the Board members and five Constitutional Officers: Clerk of Court, Property Appraiser, Sheriff, Supervisor of Elections, and Tax Collector. The County employs a workforce of more than 1,000. The Board of County Commissioners appoints the County Administrator and the County Attorney. The County Administrator directs day-to-day government operations. The County Attorney is the Board’s legal counsel and represents the County in litigation.   • Congratulations to Abe Nelson who is retiring after 25 years of service with St. Johns County Public Works Department 🎉 When Abe started with Public Works in 1999, he was an entry-level member of the Road and Bridge construction team but was soon promoted to Crew Chief. Currently, he works as a Traffic Sign Field Technician inspecting roadway signs and striping on all County maintained roads. Abe's friendly demeanor, work ethic, and overall approach to serving the residents of St. Johns County will be missed. Help us wish him the best of health and happiness in retirement!

    On Tuesday, Sept. 17, St. Johns County celebrated the incredible life and service of World War II veteran Mr. Joe Shomo, a St. Augustine resident, during a special recognition ceremony. 🇺🇸 Mr. Shomo, who turned 101 on Aug. 21, was also honored with a Certificate of Recognition at the Board of County Commissioners meeting. 🎉 🔗 More info about Mr. Shomo: https://lnkd.in/ecDYwCtK
