Standing on the shoulders of giants, I am humbled to lead Stanford's Precourt Institute for Energy into the next chapter. The Institute's mission (and that of Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability) is to "glue" the many people and organizations working on energy across Stanford and beyond. Following the vision of Jay Precourt and the footsteps of Lynn Orr, Arun Majumdar, Sally Benson and Yi Cui, I am excited to continue this mission of building connective tissues that will contribute to the energy transition. In particular, I am thrilled for my partnership with Ira Ehrenpreis, Mike Morgan and the entire Precourt Advisory Council. My journey with Precourt began nearly 20 years ago. My PhD thesis with Sossina Haile was part of Stanford's Global Climate & Energy Project, a predecessor to today's Precourt Institute. In 2010, I was hired as the first faculty member of the Institute, joint with Stanford University School of Engineering's Materials Science & Engineering department. Looking forward, I am excited to work with Stanford Energy's amazing people to make a difference.

The next edition of our joint MUST (Universität Münster, Stanford University, University of Twente) battery winter school took place last week in California. The focus of this year’s workshop was on initiating, translating & scaling-up of #battery #innovations 🔋🔋 in North West Europe and Silicon Valley. The aim of the collaboration between Münster, Twente and Stanford is to train highly qualified battery researchers. The international exchange provided our scientists with new impulses and promising perspectives for our research. A big thank you to Yi Cui, William Chueh, Jimmy Chen and Stanford StorageX Initiative for organizing this inspiring days. We are looking forward to meeting you in Twente in 2025 – it’s a MUST. 👍
