The suicide rate for construction workers is 4 times higher than in the general population, due in large part to work-related stresses such as seasonal work, demanding schedules and workplace injuries. Last week, Suffolk recognized Construction Suicide Prevention Week, which is dedicated to raising awareness about this pressing issue and providing our workforce with resources that can help prevent those deaths. Suffolk teams across the country facilitated safety standdowns throughout the week to discuss mental health and substance abuse trends that affect our industry, suicide risk factors and warning signs, and resources available to provide support and guidance to our Suffolk family and trade partners. Thank you to our Suffolk Estero team members who recently volunteered at the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Fort Myers, FL. In just three hours, the team packed 1,000 food boxes to be distributed to the Southwest Florida community, with each box feeding a family of 3-4 for one week. At Suffolk, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build and live. Thank you to our Estero team for participating in this important cause and exhibiting our core value of caring in everything you do! #suffolkcares
