When the Greensboro ABC board needed a new, visionary partner to help craft the future of their retail spaces, Summit’s architects answered the call with fresh, innovative designs that reflect the city's ongoing growth without compromising its aesthetic connection to the community. By utilizing design features that integrate Greensboro’s character while emphasizing warm, welcoming features, such as broad windows that provide ample sunlight, Summit is helping the Greensboro ABC Board provide a premier retail experience for its customers. The first of these stores—now fully designed-- presents an elegant contemporary space to be used as a template for future locations.

Meet flocculants, the unsung heroes our stormwater professionals use to limit the impact of pollutants and sediment on water and the ecosystems within. For Summit, Tropical Storm Helene hit close to home. Asheville, where one of our offices is located, is among the many businesses impacted by the widespread devastation-- but that won't stop Summit from contributing to the recovery effort.    Members of our team in Hillsborough traveled to the water-logged part of the state to assist NCDOT and other municipal entities with getting crucial infrastructure back up and running. Our hearts are heavy, and our prayers are with our colleagues, neighbors, friends, family, and communities in Western North Carolina and Appalachia. We were on-site for yesterday's grand opening of Complete 540’s Southeast Extension! As the Prime CEI firm on this transformative project, Summit is proud to have played a key role in delivering the first phase of Complete 540. This vital new stretch of the Triangle Expressway, connecting Apex, Garner, and beyond, is a huge win for Wake County's infrastructure!

Yesterday marked a significant milestone for the Complete NC 540 Phase I project, in which Summit Design and Engineering Services has been honored to represent NCDOT and the North Carolina Turnpike Authority by providing Contract Administration services for the last 5+ years. A lot of hard work went into getting this new 18+ mile section of NC 540 open to the traveling public. Last night at around 4am this segment officially opened to traffic from NC 55 in Apex to I-40 in Garner. Though there is still a lot more work to be done, I am very proud of my staff for their hard work and dedication to get this road open! I have included a video of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony that took place yesterday morning, it was a very special moment for all of us that have been involved in these projects.

Last week, Summit employees heard from four of our own exceptional employees at a panel discussion and happy hour event put on by WISE, Summit’s women’s group. Anne W. Darby, AICP, Julie Foley, AIA CSI CDT, Magda P. Holloway, and Jennifer McRoy, PE told us about their important career moments, advice, and challenges in a panel moderated by Troy Dover. A special thank you to these four for sharing their time and experiences with us! We love being able to have these types of events to spotlight our employees, share important experiences, and bring together our Summit community for an evening!
