Direct linking to islands!!! Deep linking will be especially big for attracting new consumers and retaining current players. 🔺Platforms like Epic are going to be experimenting more with their algorithm to guide this "discover" experience, we can expect to see more metrics on categories and impressions. Discovery is based on 3 overarching elements: Attention Engagement Satisfaction Types of attraction: New -new player into Fortnite Returned -attracting a lapse 28+ days back to Fortnite Retained - a current Fortnite player New key features launching in the next 6 months for attraction: Personalized discover (ongoing) Favorite a creator (Q4) New and returning interest flow (Q4) Direct linking to island!!! (Q4) Thin Fortnite client (2025) A/B testing thumbnails (2025) Deep linking is going to be HUGE. Engagement: keeping players invested in your island Types of engagement: Depth of Play: users staying in your island after trialing it (idle minutes don’t count) Retention: users returning to map after initially playing it Socials: users playing with and bringing their friends to your island Key new engagement features: -favorite a creator Q4 2024 -text chat Q4 20254 -contextual data coming to the creator portal at some point so creators can better understand what “good” looks like Satisfaction: Types: Post match: players rating your island on fun, quality, and difficulty post match Endorsements: do players favorite and recommend your island and bring their friends to play it? New key features to enable satisfaction: -satisfaction data in creator analytics Q4 broken down into: satisfaction / fun / difficulty Content testing Epic considers a “test” as receiving 50,000 impressions within a short time window -prioritize reaching high CCU and full lobbies during a maps “test” -islands tested multiple times -the metrics from past tests are not counted in a new test (so keep updating) Discover tests 4,000 new and updated games across all of their rows each week Testing categories: new and top rated, new and updated, try something new Coming soon: segment specific tests Discover test islands multiple times especially when islands are updated Changes coming within the Fortnite client: Favorite a creator: Players will be able to Favorite Creators in client and on web Favorited creators, new islands and updates can be found in a users library Creator picks will allow creators to showcase the content of other creators Creator pages will launch in update 33.00 (before EOY) Creator page in client: -new profile images -Bio and description added into client -Adding in socials -Featured games -All islands -Users can find their favorited creators Discover Evolution: “For you” page to evolve to be more personalized Game collections (all the epic IP program gemes) and category pages -clicking into these game collections / categories will have an entirely new discover experience -give players control over what they see in discovery -Allow players to get to their genres very quickly -Epic to experiment within these pages to test the algorithm TLDR: fun games win
