Just wrapped up my first Sustainable Brands conference, and I'm feeling incredibly inspired by the brilliant minds I met and heard from companies like Walmart, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, REI, Target, and so many more. It was an eye-opening reminder that ESG is not just a department—it's a lens through which we can all contribute to building a better world. I dug into regenerative agriculture and made valuable connections with folks from Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. and Walmart who are leading in that space. I also learned from Indigenous communities who are collaborating with the U.S. government to restore food sovereignty—a powerful reminder of regenerative farming's original roots. One stat that stood out: Soft drinks are now the second most influential sector where sustainability drives consumer choice, just behind luxury cars. The shift is real, and consumers are making it clear that they want to align with sustainable brands. What a week at #SB2024! So many great conversations and joy felt from this amazing group of fellow practitioners. Reflecting on the content and the mood, I can't help but feel the future of sustainability is bright. For the first time in a long time, I am feeling optimistic. I was so thrilled to serve as this year's AI Track Chair because I think small language models offer us a unique opportunity to do our jobs better and faster. Companies like NobleAI , FRDM, SXD, OmniThink.AI, Muir AI, Softly Solutions are all providing the tools to companies and practitioners to make better, safer and more sustainable products NOW! It was SO great to be onsite this year with two of my clients, both trailblazers in their own domains AORA MÉXICO and NobleAI, unique examples of how challenging the way we have always done things can help us move forward on sustainability faster and more effectively.
