This week, we’re celebrating benefits teams everywhere in honor of HR Professionals Day. They advocate for us so fiercely and make sure we have access to the benefits we need to thrive, both at work and outside of it. This Sword Health member knows that without the hard work of their company’s benefits team, they wouldn’t have access to Sword or any of the other benefits they love. We hear feedback like this all the time—so, benefits teams, we hope you know how appreciated you are!

Menopause costs American women an estimated $1.8 billion in lost working time per year, as reported in a recent The New York Times article about making the workplace menopause-friendly. The article highlights a new initiative the The Menopause Society introduced this month called Making Menopause Work. It offers employers actionable guidance on supporting employees through the significant challenges that come along with menopause—from pelvic health symptoms to joint pain to mental health struggles—and “is the latest symbol of growing recognition that menopause takes a toll on women in the workplace.” Read the report to learn how employers can support women through this important life change, so that women don’t feel like their only choice is to miss work—or even leave the workforce altogether—when they’re experiencing menopause symptoms.
