Why is New York City one of the best places in the world for Climate Tech? With its vibrant ecosystem of capital, talent, and mission-driven founders, NYC has become a launchpad for breakthrough technologies—one of the reasons Synonym chose the city as our HQ. Since 2021, $3.5B in venture capital has flowed into the climate tech sector, with NYC startups raising $664M in 2023 alone. It’s a place where pioneers and investors converge to forge new partnerships and scale innovative solutions. Want to hear more from our CEO and co-founder, Edward, and other Climate Tech leaders? Join us in Brooklyn this December 12-13th for HackSummit, where 500+ Climate Deep Tech innovators will gather to drive impact and discuss the latest in the industry. For more information, visit this page: https://lnkd.in/e7KsacjC For more on what makes NYC a great home for the Climate Tech ecosystem, read the full article from ClimateHack here: https://lnkd.in/emshBE-e and hear from other NYC Climate Tech innovators and investors, including Ron Zori (Essential Capital), Adam E Ornstein (Fiora Mara), Guy Vidra (Collaborative Fund), Jacob Afriat (Great Circle Ventures), Garrett Boudinot (Vycarb) and many more! #ClimateTech #Bioeconomy #Biomanufacturing #NYC #Sustainability #HackSummit #Innovation #DeepTech #Startups #Fermentation #PrecisionFermentation

In case you missed it, some big news earlier this week from our partner Primient. We’re thrilled to see the announcement of Primient’s co-location partnership with Sustainea that will bring the first commercial-scale Bio-MEG facility in the U.S. to life. This project will not only advance bioproduct innovation, but also is further proof that the U.S. Midwest is rapidly becoming a hub for both domestic and global biomanufacturing. With projects like the new Bio-MEG facility in Lafayette and our joint project iPROOF in Decatur, Illinois, Primient is leading the way in building a more sustainable future and reinforcing the region’s position at the forefront of the bioeconomy. A few weeks ago, our team gathered in Montreal for a great company offsite! We reflected on this year's progress and laid out exciting plans for Q4 and beyond in the bioeconomy. As a distributed team, it’s always valuable to collaborate in person. We even took a break to explore Montreal on a walking tour of the city’s vibrant street art (see a highlight of the walk below!). We’re looking forward to finishing the year strong and driving even more progress in 2025. In case you missed it last week, Synonym was thrilled to co-host a breakfast event during #ClimateWeekNYC with Accenture and IndieBio. We brought together leaders from global CPGs, fashion companies, and biotech startups to explore the opportunities and challenges in scaling bio-innovation for everyday products. From precision-fermented milk to sustainable fabrics, the energy in the room was electric as we discussed bold ideas for the future. Some of the biggest takeaways (thank you Fiona Bennie and Vlad Oncescu, PhD!) from the discussion were: 1) Bio-innovation is set to transform multiple, mainstream sectors. 2) Collaboration in the ecosystem is key to unlocking new growth pathways. 3) Consumer-centricity is crucial for driving bioproduct adoption. Check out Fiona’s full post below to learn more about the takeaways and thank you to all who joined and contributed! #bioeconomy #biomanufacturing #fermentation #precisionfermentation #climatetech #biotech #foodtech
🧬 🚀 Consumer Bio-products are the future! Last week we were lucky enough to partner with Joshua Lachter from Synonym and Sabriya Stukes, PhD from IndieBio to co-host a #ClimateWeekNYC breakfast event exploring the huge potential for bio-innovation. We brought together leaders from global CPGs and fashion companies, biotech startups, and more, to explore the challenges and opportunities in scaling bio-innovation in everyday products like shampoo, bio-identical milk, apparel fabrics and much, much more. From breaking down barriers to sparking collaboration and discovering new opportunities, the energy was high and the ideas were bold! 3 main take-aways (thank you Vlad Oncescu, PhD!) 🧬 Bio-innovation is poised to revolutionize multiple sectors – industries like food, beauty, and fashion are on the verge of major transformations driven by the rapid advancement of the bio-innovation space 🫶 Collaboration between established players and innovators is crucial – the greatest challenge lies in building trust and fostering collaboration, breaking down silos between traditional industry leaders and disruptive innovators. 👩🏾❤️👨🏼 Consumer-centricity is key to driving adoption – yes, the sustainability story behind bio-innovation is crucial, but the focus must be on meeting consumer preferences and delivering enhanced functionality to make the market and drive consumer demand. Thank you to all the participants for your enthusiasm and enabling us to have a brilliantly honest and open conversation 🩵 Jaz Foster, Christian Saclier, Eric Weisser, Aleks Gosiewski, Christina O'Keefe, Rachel Taplinger, Veronica Chou, Roee Goldberg, Dennis Nobelius, Casey Emmett, David Heller, Ron Zori, Yuma Nishikawa, Matt O'Mara, Dylan Dakota Batch, Ph.D., Suzanne Lee, Maisie Devine Sherman, Ralph Gencarelli, Karan Jerath, Michael Fox. And special thanks to MeliBio, Bored Cow, The Crop Project, Fable Food Co, C16 Biosciences, Oobli, Nature's Fynd, ZBiotics and Algae Cooking Club for their innovative samples and breakfast contributions 😋 #bioeconomy #biomanufacturing #fermentation #precisionfermentation #climatetech #biotech #foodtech Accenture Song Accenture

We had an incredible time hosting breakfast earlier this week with Accenture and SOSV IndieBio to cap off Climate Week in NYC! We brought together industry leaders for a roundtable discussion that dove into how emerging biotechnologies are transforming consumer products, from supply chains to ingredients and product portfolios. Much of the food we ate, the cosmetics we tested – even the straws we used – were products of biomanufacturing available for purchase right now. The trickle will only become a flood, as companies realize the performance, health and sustainability profiles of bioproducts mean they belong urgently on ingredient lists. A special thank you to all of the next-gen food and beverage brands that had product included in the event - Bored Cow, Tomorrow Farms, Oobli, The Crop Project, ZBiotics, Nature's Fynd, Fable Food Co, and MeliBio. #bioeconomy #biomanufacturing #fermentation #precisionfermentation #climatetech #climateweekNYC #deeptech
