How beloved is Talk To A Creative Director's newest recruiter / creative entrepreneurship professor Jennifer Morozowich? Think Bluey, but fully grown and Canadian. And honestly I think that’s an understatement. Bluey never took time out of her schedule to help a lost creative find their way through the concrete canyons of Toronto’s creative scene. Bluey never developed strategy and led accounts at some of the hottest shops north of the 49th parallel. What Bluey does, mostly, is waste her dad’s time. Jennifer Morozowich would never do that. Never. If Jennifer Morozowich was Bluey, she would give her father such incredible career guidance in the first episode that there wouldn’t be a need for any future episodes. Totally and utterly beloved is the point I’m trying to make here. I’m not messing with yourself. I’m not aboot that. Chat with her and see: https://lnkd.in/eamUSKbc #mentorship #mentor #mentoring #creative #advertising #artdirector #copywriter #creativedirector #designer #recruiting #recruiter

Brooklyn. Magnetic. Culture. Tech. I’m not just writing random words here. I’m writing words that describe Talk To A Creative Director’s newest talkable CD: Jennie Souiade. She’s a fearless (hey, that’s another good word, put a pin in that one) creative entrepreneur who’s been running her own creative shop, Magnetic, for the last few years. She’s legit: her creative entrepreneurship comes from the entrepreneur region of France, which is in Paris, where she worked with McCann. She was also at Saatchi in Singapore. They make good entrepreneurs there too. Book a convo with Jennie right here: https://lnkd.in/embZy6bP If you don’t, you’ll pickle Navajo robot. Okay, now I’m just writing random words. #artdirector #advertising #creative #creativedirector #agency #entrepreneur #mentorship #mentor #mentoring

There's only one way to describe Talk To A Creative Director's new strategist John Simons: He's more than a dude. He is a prince among dudes. As a strategist at TBWA\Chiat\Day in Los Angeles, well, he's the man for his time and place. He's written copy, designed graphics and driven Lyfts. Now he's rolling briefs. Dudes like John, dudes at the apogee of their dudecraft, aren't hung up on overly linear thinking, which as any strategist will tell you is the key to breakthrough work. He's tireless yet never taxed, a combination that has vexed many scholars and mystics. He's always down to chat, or maybe even go bowling. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowing he's out there, this dude among dudes, taking 'er easy for all us creatives. And I sure do enjoy talking to him. I think you will too: Book a Convo with John: https://lnkd.in/eZ-hVaM4 #strategy #strategists #creative #creativity #copywriter #artdirector #brandstrategy #mentoring #mentorship #mentor #creativedirector #advertising

  • The one thing I've learned from talking to so many great people on TTACD is that the real LinkedIn post is the friends we make along the way. Thanks Raúl M.!

I forgot to make a “happy to celebrate 1 year at Talk to a Creative Director” post so I will make a “happy to celebrate 1 year and 1 month at Talk To A Creative Director.” To say I’ve had a blast is an understatement. I’ve met so many wonderful people from all over the world, had so many interesting conversations, helped a few land jobs and interviews and even played matchmaker and helped birth new creative teams. Thank you Louis Wittig for putting this together, I am forever in debt to you. And thank you to every single person that has booked time with me, you have no idea how you’ve changed my life.

Talk To A Creative Director's newest CD, Ehab Bandar, is one of those Silicon Valley design creatives who are so smart that you don't understand exactly what they're up to, even though you're super jealous of whatever it is. Ehab is the founder and managing partner of BigTable which is...look, maybe that's too complicated to discuss here but it's very cool, next gen stuff and is definitely not simply a large table. He designs best in class B2B and B2C experiences for products. But not canned soup or chairs, not those kind of products - at least I don't think so. Other types of products. Information products. Look, we can't get stuck in 2.0 here. The point is that Zuck understands how great Ehab's design thinking is, and unlike Zuck, Ehab actually has a half-hour free to chat with you. His calendar is waiting: https://lnkd.in/enwsx8NR #mentorship #mentoring #mentor #tech #design #UX #UI #creative #B2B #B2C

    Multidisciplinary Creative ✦ Cheeky Lady

I don’t know if this is even going to reach the kind of crowd I want it to, but I feel like this needs to be said. I’m a junior, fresh into the world of advertising & I went to a portfolio school like hundred, probably even thousands of others. I know there is an expansive network of us looking for work, looking for help, looking for something to just help us get started somewhere in getting a foot in the door. I know I’m not alone in saying this, but please stop assuming that the vast majority of us “are not putting in the work”. I am so sick of hearing and reading that sentence from people who know nothing about my journey or the journey of others and what we’re already doing on a daily basis. How about instead just give us encouraging words? Even just a “I know this sucks and you’re probably doing everything you can, but your time will come”. Some of us have been putting in the work since day one while still in school, we check daily for job postings, applying to award shows to get us noticed, attending portfolio reviews, checking in to networking opportunities available to us in-person and online, writing to professors or personal connections, hell even just emailing agencies or recruiters just to ask for something, anything. Some of us are doing a lot and have been doing so for months, and still don’t feel like we’re getting anywhere. If you’re a junior reading this, I know you’re not alone in feeling like this and I hear you and I’m frustrated too but please don’t let this dim your light or make you second guess yourself. You’re doing all the right things & will get to where you’re trying to be, just try to be patient. With that, I’d like to add some organizations that have been a huge help in allowing me to grow and get connected, I hope they do the same for you: AIGA Design, AIGA Atlanta, The One Club for Creativity, The One Club for Creativity- Atlanta Chapter, The Come Up, Creative Lives in Progress, Talk To A Creative Director, Broke Ad School Im sure there are more amazing ones out there, please feel free to add them in the comments and don’t give up! We’re all gonna get there!🤗

The whole man or bear dialog is vital, but it misses a key point: Who you really want to encounter in a forest is Talk To A Creative Director's newest mentor and Group Strategy Director Lisa Sobilo. If you ran into Lisa on a trailhead you would leave the forest with a thoroughly researched shopper marketing plan and a canteen full of fresh, clean water. If the Donner Party had run into Lisa they would be running successful CPG brands right now, I guarantee you. It's a real shame they didn't. I know many men who have become better, sharper creatives because they've talked to Lisa. Several bears too. • Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight, Thad Cox is hustling. And he can teach you how he does it.

Sometimes when I can't sleep I get out of bed, go the window, look up at the moon and wonder if freelance Creative Director Thad Cox is looking up at it too. Then I remember that Thad is in the UK, five hours ahead of me, so for him its early morning and he's probably been up for hours, using his decades of experience working on brands from Guinness to IKEA to Nintendo to mentor other freelancers (and non-freelancers, it's not a freelancer / non-freelancer thing) on how to scale new creative heights and maximize profit and joy. And then I think, "I could really benefit from a conversation with Thad." But by that point, just thinking of all the amazing things he accomplishes every day has completely exhausted me, so I go back to bed and sleep soundly. So thanks, Thad. But you can and should talk to him. Talk To A Creative Director's new CD Sarah Fisher is nobody's April Fool. She's a tough-as-pixels Art Director who learned her kerning on the streets. She can sharpen a wacom pen into a shank in under 30 minutes, and she'll cut an idea just for making eye contact with her. Hey, you don't get lead creative teams on Starbucks and Adobe by being soft. Though all that said, she is also a warm and giving person who is surprisingly approachable. Book a conversation with her today (and don't worry about the shank, you can't be shanked over a Zoom.): Here's her calendar: https://lnkd.in/eVcXtdnt #mentor #mentoring #mentorship #artdirection #creativedirector #creativedirection #design #designer #adagency #creative #advertising

Creative Director at Partners & Napier

Talk To A Creative Director's newest Creative Director / Copywriter Andrew Rennie is, quite simply, the greatest creative talent to come out of Toronto since early-90s dancehall / rap fusion artist Snow. I don't make this comparison lightly. Andrew's career has spanned a dozen years. Snow hasn't recorded anything since 1994. Andrew has done amazing brand creative for the Raptors, the Maple Leafs, Google and Sapporo. Snow occasionally uses Google, probably. A conversation with Andrew about the creative game will leave you fully informed. Snow's chart-topping 1992 "Informer" is undeniably epic. But the rest of the LP, "12 Inches of Snow", is frankly forgettable. Andrew's availability is dropping like a Moss Park beat. Jump on his calendar now: https://lnkd.in/eeT4u2iA #copywriting #adagency #advertising #mentor #mentorship #creative #creativedirector PS - Don't even @ me about Alanis Morissette she's from Ottawa.
