Hispanic representation in US tech jobs is growing — in cities like Atlanta, DC and Philadelphia, their numbers have doubled. However, Hispanic tech workers still account for less than 10% of the labor force in these cities, a much lower percentage than the general US Hispanic population. Check out the latest episode of “Technical.ly Speaking” on WURD Radio, featuring Dia L. Jones, Ed.D. of the Philadelphia Robotics Coalition. The contract between the nonprofit and the The School District of Philadelphia ended earlier this year, which meant the loss of financial support for educator-led robotics programs across the city. Click through to hear Jones discuss what this loss of funding might mean. https://lnkd.in/eGypu2E4

Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester has a saying she chants with her supporters during campaign events: “When Lisa goes to Washington, we all go to Washington.” If elected, Blunt Rochester would make history as only the third Black woman ever to serve in the U.S. Senate. Aiming to represent all Delawareans, she’s focused on everyday concerns like job security, affordable housing, and health care costs. Yet, as she strives for change, she’s also deeply aware of the weight her success could carry for women and women of color nationwide. Blunt Rochester leads her race by a significant margin, but she remains mindful of both the progress and challenges faced by Black women in government. Read more about her journey and vision for Delaware. https://lnkd.in/geAQittP

Senate candidates Bob Casey and Dave McCormick offer contrasting approaches. Casey supports AI regulation, digital accessibility and a mix of clean energy and fossil fuel initiatives. Meanwhile, McCormick advocates for cryptocurrency freedom, regulating social media for teens and boosting fossil fuel production. At last week's "Building The Future: DC's Economic Landscape" event, hosted by Mayor Bowser and DMPED, we discussed where we're going as a city. Read more in Technical.ly's write-up below 👇 "Tech is a key part of the District’s economy, largely encompassing cybersecurity and government-related IT, said Deputy Mayor Nina Albert. DC’s strengths lie in the 'feds, eds and meds,' but there’s room to diversify the industry. 'There is a direct connection between what the federal government procures and the ecosystem or industry that’s emerging,' Albert told Technical.ly. 'And we’re just wanting to lean into that more, so that we can really harness that natural work and make sure that it extends to other types of technologies.' https://lnkd.in/eGV7QhxE

🚀✨ I’m excited to share an OpEd I recently co-authored with Stephen Yale-Loehr and Dan H. Berger for Technical.ly about the International Entrepreneur Parole (IEP) program. Those who know me know how strongly I’ve been advocating for this program over the years. In the article, I talk about how I helped an AI startup founder secure IEP approval. As an immigration attorney and a founder myself, I’m passionate about supporting entrepreneurs, especially those in advancing fields like AI and software. When the IEP program first launched, the Trump Administration immediately tried to block it. With the election approaching, it’s more important than ever to have an Administration that truly values immigrant founders and the groundbreaking work they do. 🙌🇺🇸 https://lnkd.in/ggsv_XcC
