Colleagues from KREM 2 Media Group, KING 5 Media Group, KGW-TV and KTVB News Group came together for a regional training and collaborate on ways they can best serve their communities in the Pacific Northwest.
"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled." - Plutarch 🔥Fires were kindled this week as morning producers from KING 5 Media Group, KGW-TV, KTVB News Group, & KREM 2 Media Group met for our 4th ⛰️#PNW #TeamTEGNA training session, this time in Spokane, WA. We collaborated on how to carry audience (on streaming & linear) with urgency and pacing, learned how to reset Circadian rhythms from a sleep expert, and dove into conflict resolution by understanding communication styles. We all return to work Monday… a little bit on fire.🔥🔥 Special thanks to our General Managers who are committed to keeping that fire going for #jouranlism: Christy Moreno, RJ Merritt, Jessica Hagan, MBA, & Greg Retsinas.

TEGNA reposted this
For more than three years now, our KGW-TV Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee has held internal listening sessions for our team. We've invited in different community groups, leaders and nonprofits with a goal for us to listen, learn and to establish connections that can elevate our news coverage. This week, we were thrilled to welcome a great panel that consisted of Scott Hatley, the executive director of INCIGHT, a nonprofit that serves individuals living with barriers and people with disabilities by helping them through employment, education and independence; Todd Vogt, PLY and Dennis Connors, two local Paralympians just returning from Paris, their first ever Olympic appearances; and our very own KGW reporter Art Edwards, whose son AJ experiences a disability. We talked about the 1.3 billion people in our world who experience a significant disability today and about ways we can be more inclusive with our coverage to amplify voices. Cannot thank our panel enough for being vulnerable with us, and sharing their life experiences and personal stories. Thank you also to our moderator and fellow DEI committee member Christine Pitawanich for hosting a great conversation.
