Cell therapy manufacturing is a delicate balance. Every step, from cell collection to final product, is crucial to success. Cell collection is often a misunderstood step in the overall cell therapy manufacturing process. A suboptimal collection process can lead to: • Delayed timelines: Missed target cell counts and processing delays • Compromised product quality: Cellular contaminants and reduced cell viability • Increased costs: Inefficient processes and potential manufacturing failures Don't let cell collection be the bottleneck in a therapy's journey. Discover how data-driven strategies and advanced technologies can optimize the collection process and help achieve the highest quality starting material. Two weeks ago, Terumo BCT reached a significant milestone. We hosted our first LinkedIn Live event, attracting viewers from across the globe and various professions, including healthcare administrators, marketing professionals, scientists, advocates, policy makers, and CEOs. Participants joined us from Tanzania, Kenya, India, Egypt, the UK, the US, France, Brazil, Spain, Scotland, and more—spanning five continents. Our speakers shared powerful and humbling insights about living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and the current state of SCD treatments in the healthcare industry. We are deeply grateful to Kevin Wake, M.S., CHW, for sharing his journey with SCD and his determination to receive regular treatments within specific timeframes. His story reminded us and our attendees of the daily battles many face, often greater than our own. Witnessing individuals like Kevin pursue a life filled with joy despite obstacles inspires us at Terumo BCT to continue advocating for patient care and accessible treatments for blood disorders. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mason Barrett from National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) for highlighting resources to support rare diseases and for his unwavering commitment to advancing this mission despite current challenges. We also thank Jackie Kunzler for contributing to this important conversation and for leading discussions on critical topics related to healthcare advancement and access. Building an inclusive culture can’t be done by creating policies or posting statements online—it comes from valuing and appreciating our colleagues’ lived experiences. While leadership plays a role in setting priorities, real inclusion happens by living your Core Values. At Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, these values shape the conversations we choose to have, the respect we show to each other, and the care we demonstrate to our colleagues and the patients we serve. The power of inclusion lies in individual actions. It’s how we listen, how we seek and appreciate different perspectives, and how we ensure every person feels valued and heard. Creating a culture where people can bring their whole, authentic selves to work isn’t just an initiative on a website—it’s a collective responsibility we bring to team meetings, company events and hallway conversations. Inclusion can't be mandated from the top-down; it has to be built from the ground up. Our entire business thrives when we make space for each other, when we challenge biases (our own and those around us) and when we choose curiosity over assumption. I'm proud to work for Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, where we continue to prioritize this through our leaders and champions, enabled by a Center of Excellence within our HR organization led by Jessie Rowe and her team. So as we approach International Women's Day this weekend, let’s continue to do the work—not just in words, but in actions. Because inclusion isn’t about a program. It’s about our habits and actions everyday. #IWD #AccelerateAction #TerumoProud
