The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded $34.3 million in Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) funding to support 218 projects statewide, including the Foundation's Medical Legal Partnership (MLP) program. We are grateful to M&T Bank for committing $25K to support MLP through the NAP program. MLP increases housing stability for renters with low incomes and provides free civil legal assistance to pregnant people and families participating in the Foundation’s maternal and child health programs. These families live in zip codes with the county’s highest eviction rates and are at risk of eviction and homelessness. 📚Learn more about NAP: https://loom.ly/_hI9fvE #NAP #taxcredit

Helping people to make a difference by inspiring giving and investing in nonprofits in Delaware County.
About us
The Foundation for Delaware County brings together the many voices that shape our county—elected officials, business and civic leaders, nonprofits, and individuals—to foster a deeper understanding of the critical issues we face and to collectively craft solutions. Since our founding in 2016, The Foundation for Delaware County has embraced our role as a county-wide connector, coordinating efforts and convening key stakeholders to shine a spotlight on our county’s challenges and solutions. We partner with nonprofit organizations engaged in vital community work, businesses looking to make a positive impact, donors investing their resources, and community leaders lending a helping hand to their neighbors. Facilitating philanthropy across all levels of giving, we work to channel resources and funding where they are most needed. Yesterday the Foundation's Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNEx) launched two new Peer Learning Circle cohorts. Executive Directors and Senior Leaders from several Delaware County nonprofits joined us at the Inn at Swarthmore for a kick-off reception, where they connected with past participants and built valuable relationships. This is just one of the many ways CNEx supports and strengthens our vibrant nonprofit community. 💙Learn more about all of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence services: https://loom.ly/QxNYor4 #NonprofitExcellence #delcononprofits #delco

A Statement from Foundation President Frances Sheehan, CAP® on today's Executive Order. Many valuable nonprofits found their federal funding halted today without notice. The Foundation for Delaware County is one of those nonprofits. We run several federally funded public health programs including WIC, Nurse-Family Partnership, and Healthy Start. These programs collectively serve thousands of moms, dads, and babies each year, and employ 75 people directly or indirectly. We are actively gathering and learning information as it becomes available and how it might affect our programs and many of our critical nonprofit partners in Delaware County. For many nonprofits, even one month without funding could be devastating. We will continue to monitor this situation and share our thoughts as more details become available.

Today we recognize Maternal Health Awareness Day. This year's theme, "What's at Stake" reminds us that the maternal mortality rate in the United States remains unacceptably high. ↪️Roughly 80% of maternal deaths are considered preventable ↪️Black and American Indian or Alaska Native pregnant and postpartum people disproportionately experience health inequities ↪️Patients in many states have lost reproductive freedoms and care deserts are expanding By knowing what’s at stake, we can forge a path forward. The Delaware County Health Department just released a stunning report on Perinatal Periods of Risk, showing the increase in infant mortality in our county and what steps we should take to address the disparities. It is more critical than ever to stay committed to efforts to improve maternal health outcomes. 🔗Read this critical report here: https://loom.ly/HtENAKI 💙 Donate to our fund supporting maternal health programs and services: https://loom.ly/NDG8jUA
