In West Hartford Center, at the corner of Trout Brook Drive and Farmington Avenue, we have three significant developments in various stages of construction. The Byline at 920 Farmington Avenue is working on the finishing touches and pre-leasing. The Camelot at 900 Farmington Avenue at the former West Hartford Inn site is full steam ahead to an early 2025 opening. And, 950 Trout Brook has poured the foundation and is going vertical. Yes, that's three developments on ONE BLOCK. That is 264 new units of housing added into West Hartford's downtown, including an entire development dedicated to affordable housing with units ranging from 30%-80% of AMI. That's an estimated investment of just under $100 million. More importantly, it's adding more units to the Town's core and continuing to increase density in our downtown through infill development. Most importantly, it's creating new places for people to live with access to jobs, public transportation, parks and amenities as well as increasing critical mass to support small business. What may come as a surprise to some, this is a very small snapshot of what is going on in West Hartford at the moment. The Design District, Elmwood, Park Road and Bishops Corner are all having their moment. So many examples of public and private coming together to make it happen, and from an economic development perspective, it really feels like progress. Regardless of your politics, if you care about the future of this Country, and the need to provide more accessible rental and home ownership opportunities to millions of Americans, hearing a former president using his time on stage at a National Party Convention to address outdated laws and regulations that stand in the way of our ability to boost needed housing supply is a VERY good thing and a big deal.
