That’s a wrap on Day 2 of our virtual Gun Violence Prevention Network (GVPN) meeting! The Network is designed to catalyze and expand local gun violence prevention by learning about and adapting best practices from across the country. Participating community foundations also work together to apply a racial equity lens to their gun violence prevention initiatives Participants over the past two days were deep in thought, building on peer connections and diving deeper into their foundations’ gun violence prevention strategies and plans. Thank you to our incredible content partner Reggie Moore and participants from Greater Washington Community Foundation, Philadelphia Foundation, Rose Community Foundation, and The Indianapolis Foundation for your time and thoughtful energy. Today I had the opportunity to personally congratulate @Cynthia Figueroa and @JEVS Human Services for successfully implementing the C2L-PHL program this summer. This program is improving opportunities and outcomes for young people across our region by enhancing access to workforce development, skills-building, networking opportunities, and personal financial management. We at @Bank of America share JEVS’s passion for empowering youth because everyone deserves a chance to succeed. Urban Affairs Coalition Philadelphia Works, Inc. Philadelphia Foundation

We're thrilled to celebrate the latest groundbreaking research from The Wistar Institute, supported by the Robert I. Jacobs Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation. Under the guidance of Dr. Luis Montaner, the team has successfully cloned new antibodies that could lead to future treatments for a variety of health conditions. This innovative work highlights the potential to improve how we understand and fight diseases like HIV, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. We're honored that support from the Jacobs Fund, which promotes and funds AIDS research, has contributed to this breakthrough. A big congratulations to Dr. Montaner, Emmanouil Papasavvas, Ph.D., and their team for this outstanding achievement! #Philadelphia #GreaterPhiladelphia

We're so happy for the 35th Cohort of the New Leash on Life USA Prison Reentry Program at the Philadelphia Department of Prisons who graduated earlier this week! Members of our team at the Philadelphia Foundation joined the graduates, their families, dog adopters, and program staff to celebrate this milestone. Over three transformative months, participants not only cared for and trained rescue dogs, but also engaged in numerous workshops. Following their release on parole, they embarked on another three months of reentry services, including paid internships and personalized case management. Our heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their furry companions—Barnacle, Halibut ("Hallie"), Finn, Coral, and Shamu—who have all found their forever homes 🐶🏡 #Philadelphia #GreaterPhiladelphia #NewLeashOnLife #ReentryProgram
