Did you know that happier people tend to be healthier? It's true! Our Chief Operating Officer, Elizabeth Dunphy, shares new research linking positive heart health outcomes with participants who scored highest in overall wellbeing. At Vitality, we embrace a holistic approach to health, recognizing that factors like stress levels, sleep quality and social connections all play a crucial role in achieving positive outcomes. By partnering with us to build a culture of health, organizations empower employees to care for their wellbeing and thrive both personally and professionally. Learn more about why we prioritize a total-health approach in our #VitalityBlog. https://lnkd.in/gKHr3_mM
Did you know being happy is good for your health? New research out of the Journal of the American Heart Association (https://lnkd.in/g6ZTEubD) analyzed wellbeing survey data from more than 120,000 participants in the U.K. Biobank, a large-scale medical database. The researchers compared people’s wellbeing with their risk of four major heart-related diseases and found that the people with the highest wellbeing scores had a 44% lower risk of clogged arteries, 45% lower risk of stroke, 51% lower risk of heart failure, and 56% lower risk of heart attack. These findings underscore the intersection between physical health and mental health. In the same manner, physical health and mental health impact work satisfaction and performance, which we’ve seen play out in our own data. When members engage more with Vitality, health-related absenteeism and presenteeism drop significantly, resulting in meaningful productivity gains for employers. Happier, healthier and more productive employees? It would sound too good to be true if we didn’t have the data to back it up! Reach out to learn more – I’d love to talk to you about how we can help you create wellbeing behavior change support for your employees and a culture of health throughout your organization.

Preventive screenings help people understand their health, spot potential risks and take steps to prevent chronic illnesses like heart disease. However, it can be challenging for organizations to encourage healthy habits and proactive care. That’s why we connect with members where they are, using personalized journeys and targeted engagement campaigns to make a real difference in health outcomes. Learn more about how we amplify connections to care from our Chief Product Officer, Kristin Rodriguez. Then, check out our #VitalityBlog for five habits that can help you prioritize heart health. https://lnkd.in/gapPi-Gn

Like a lot of people, I have at best had my blood pressure checked a handful of times each year. And when the nurse would say, “it’s [whatever number] over [some other number],” I would nod and say, “that's good, right?” That all changed for me personally because of my book club. Yep. Book club! We’ve been meeting monthly for about a decade now and, as happens when a group of friends comes together regularly, the conversation can go all over (sometimes we even discuss the book). During one meeting, a nurse practitioner in our group decided we should all check our blood pressure using her BP monitor. The numbers were incredibly surprising – especially for one member, who had no idea her blood pressure was so high. According to this new research published in JAMA Network Open (https://lnkd.in/gAE6NVRf), most US adults with uncontrolled hypertension – like my book club friend - are completely unaware. Perhaps even more troubling: those on blood pressure medication still struggle to engage in lifestyle changes and ongoing monitoring critical to getting their hypertension under control. For Medicare Advantage plans, it is not easy to engage members in screenings and prevention. And even more resources are deployed to sustain member engagement in lifestyle modification and care plans that help protect against cardiovascular disease. Vitality Group Inc. can help Medicare Advantage plans identify and manage those members most at-risk - at both ends of the spectrum. Targeted, personalized engagement campaigns help members understand why they need to know their numbers and how they can close their care gaps by taking advantage of available preventive benefits. Beyond these moments of care, we amplify our health plan partners’ relationship-building efforts by building personal health pathways for each member. These personalized journeys empower them to both monitor and engage in protective behaviors that drive better outcomes. I now am the proud owner of a blood pressure monitor and both my husband and I check our blood pressure at least once every month. I have learned a lot about my numbers and what’s “normal” for me. Like so many protective practices, regular blood pressure readings help all of us avoid the scary plot twist uncontrolled hypertension can introduce into our health and wellness journeys.

At Vitality, we strive to bring out the best in our people. A critical part of this endeavor is supporting and empowering the women in our workforce. Read on for some compelling stats from our Chief Commercial Officer, Tanya Little (Budlender), that show how we prioritize gender equity throughout our organization.
I have two young daughters. They don't believe their future opportunity set looks any different from the boys in their class, and they dream big! Yet McKinsey & Company’s latest report finds that gender parity in the workplace is still years away, with a dismal 2% increase in women in lower managerial roles in the last decade. I’m proud of how Vitality Group Inc. prioritizes gender equity throughout our entire organization. 56% of employees, 54% of managers, 62% of directors, 60% of VPs and 41% of SVPs identify as female. How are women faring in your organization?
