Imma say this louder for those of y’all in the back that are willfully hard of seeing and hearing: IF IT DON’T APPLY, JUST WALK ON BY. You see the title of this here page, if you can’t be bothered to do any other due diligence. If the title alone makes you scrunch up your face, roll your eyes, or think to yourself, “but what about…?,” walk on. This ain’t for you. Put all that wasted energy you’re chucking over here to post some subtle as a skunk in a perfume store “all lives matter” propaganda to better use. You ain’t clever and you ain’t fooling anyone. I’d suggest unlearning your very loud and conscious bias, but I know that is a lost cause. So might I propose yoga, Pilates or whatever your favorite pastime is?—other than trolling other people, obviously. Go do that nowhere else. You are the reason spaces like this absolutely have to exist. This space is first and foremost for Black women—*gasp* I know, right?—AND for all allies, advocates, supporters, defenders, protectors, and lovers of who we are and what we stand for. This place is inclusive of anyone who gets it and isn’t offended when Black women are centered, not to the exclusion of all others, but, you know, for once. If you can’t understand the difference, all I got for you is the GIF below. #iykyk #isaidwhatisaid #psa

Amplifying the voices of Black women. Dr. Mom. Founder of BSW Chronicles. Adjunct @ Purdue Global & SNHU
Sometimes, the most radical thing a Black woman can do is refuse to shrink. Not for the job. Not for the boardroom. Not for the algorithm. Not for survival. There’s been enough noise about how we should show up—louder, softer, stronger, smaller. But what if we simply showed up fully—without apology, without performance, without translating our truth? At Black Girl Narrative, we believe that affirmation isn’t fluff. It’s a framework. A way to remember that rest is a right, that truth is not up for debate, and that we are never too much for the spaces we create. Let this Sunday hold what the world tries to rush past. We are not adjusting ourselves anymore. #BlackGirlNarrative #AffirmationSundays #BlackWomenInLeadership #StorytellingAsStrategy #SoftPower

A renowned Behavioral Scientist, Dr. Yazeed has dedicated her research to uncovering the realities of work trauma, psychological safety & employee vulnerability | Bestselling Author | Speaker | Media Contributor |🔺1913
Trauma impacts us in so many ways, including blocking our blessings or not realizing that good things can and do happen for us and in our lives. Sometimes it requires us to reimagine the world around us, and rethink what is really possible. It means believing that you DESERVE all of the goodness and abundance that is around you - that it is meant for you! So instead of doubting yourself, doubting the blessings, doubting the favor - except it all and flourish in it ♥️ #worktrauma #toxicworkculture

Some of us will fight tooth and nail on these platforms and IRL to defend folks who are not checking for us. And we miss out on the real ones who want a reason to bless us. I love this image of Forrest Gump sprinting to catch his friend Jenny leaving the only person that ever truly cared about her because she was so broken. Forrest was a real one. And Space To Exhale is written by one of the realest ones I've been following in the last five years, Ms. Lisa Hurley. When Black women needed a refuge Ms. Lisa created The Great Exhale. A community for Black women curated by a Black woman who realized we all needed to catch our breaths and desperately needed a Space To Exhale. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH. In unison, we ran quickly the room she made for us, as the braces fell off our legs, no longer would we ever be crippled by the lack of fresh air. We sat cross-legged with our chamomile tea and madeleine cookies as we told all the things we were afraid to tell. We wept. We laughed. We really did carry on so much... They were wondering what we had been doing. They asked to join us. They said it was unfair. But Ms. Lisa stood with her arms akimbo Met their cloudy gaze with the fire in her eyes And said: NOPE this is our house. And we cackled as we embellished the story of how she held them at bay. Did you see Ms. Lisa put on vaseline and cuff them up? No way! Ms. Lisa is not a wam-bam fighter, she just used The Great Exhale to blow them off her boundary line. Never expecting: ✅ She would write a manifesto. ✅ We would get to keep breathing. ✅ She was going to make Space To Exhale on a global scale. Let's not miss the gems rolling deep and running hard for us because we are consumed by all the dirt flying in our face and under our nails. Space To Exhale is the REST-volutionary we need. Ms. Lisa is a healer. The ointment for your wounds. A gift graciously granted to us by God. #Preorder copies for you and your loved ones. #Preorder for your ERG team building sessions. #Preorder for your leadership teams. #Preorder for your sons and daughters. #Preorder before they run out of paper and you can't get a copy until 2028. QR code and an image of this brilliant book in the comments. Accept this Space To Exhale 💚

Today, I received notice that my #NIH grant, focused on the social environment, lifecourse, epigenetics, and birth outcomes in Black families, has been terminated. This grant represented a critical effort to address the high rates of maternal and infant mortality in the U.S., particularly among Black mothers and babies. Despite a decrease in the overall maternal mortality rate in the U.S. from 32.9 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2021 to 18.6 in 2023, the rate for Black women remains disproportionately high at 50.3 deaths per 100,000 live births. Similarly, the infant mortality rate for Black infants is 2.4 times higher than that for non-Hispanic White infants. Our research aimed to uncover the complex interactions between social factors and biological processes that affect birth outcomes, with the goal of developing interventions to improve the health and well-being of Black mothers and their children. The termination of this grant means that the Trump administration has turned its back on an entire cohort of Black women who recently delivered a baby, their infants, and their families. This decision is trying to silence science that seeks to address adverse maternal and infant health outcomes and the voices of more than 500 Black mothers and babies enrolled in the study. The termination notice stated that "this award no longer effectuates agency priorities" and that research programs based on "amorphous equity objectives" are considered "antithetical to scientific inquiry." This rationale disregards the critical need to address #healthdisparities and the systemic inequities that contribute to the high mortality rates among Black mothers and infants. The impact of this decision goes beyond the immediate loss of funding. It undermines progress in understanding the unique challenges Black families face and developing strategies to address them. It also sends a discouraging message to researchers committed to advancing health equity and reducing disparities. I urge everyone to #StandUpForScience, #publichealth, #maternalhealth and #infanthealth. This is a call to action for reporters, the public, and all those who care about justice, humanity, and the right for mothers and infants thrive. The termination of this grant impacts not only Black mothers and babies but also U.S. mothers and babies as a whole. We must not allow the voices of marginalized communities to be silenced. Together, we can advocate for the support and continuation of research that addresses the health needs of all mothers and their babies, and work towards a healthier, more equitable society. #HealthEquity #BlackMaternalHealth #PublicHealth #ResearchMatters #HealthDisparities #JusticeForMothers #SaveOurBabies

Founder & Chief Advisor x #TIME100 Health x NYT best-selling Author, LEGACY: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine 👩🏾⚕️🩺 For speaking 🗣️ inquiries 👉🏿 Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau
Today, Friday March 21, is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination! ✊🏿✊🏿 Last year, I had the opportunity to speak at the United Nations in front of the general assembly about how anti-Black racism and discrimination negatively impacts the lives of people of African descent in United States and in the diaspora. I’m still on cloud nine for having the opportunity to speak to an international audience about the importance of health equity as not just a process, but an outcome.🙏🏾
