We see #masstimber as hardware, and CNC and digital modeling as software, in a new model for construction. When both make advances and are combined, the gains are exponential. But real estate development is different from industries that use manufacturing to make a product (cars, phones, etc.) which can be significantly accelerated by technology. It's more fragmented, has a ton of local constraints, and other project to project variables. The power and appeal of mass timber, especially in this context, is incredible. Despite all the challenges and (historically) slow rate of adaptation, the demand for #masstimber has seen exponential growth. Our goal is to lead a significant increase in that growth in the next 4-6 years. But like #AscentMKE, the planning starts now.

Enthusiasm + fundamentals = transformative change. #masstimber was a highlight at the Urban Land Institute spring meeting in NYC, and at the nearby High Line (look at that bridge!) Tim(ber) Gokhman was part of an amazing panel that highlighted the benefits and challenges of using mass timber. A common question that always comes up - is there special green capital? Our answer: define special. Our enthusiasm is balanced by fundamentals. Because it’s a newer material, with a yet to be developed supply chain, and many unknowns, mass timber is by definition a riskier choice. it has many advantages that minimize risk, too. So maybe special green capital means a partner that understands both sides of it, and is willing to try to leverage the value with you. What do you think? We are often asked, why a mass timber development company? And, why now? We are on the cusp of an incredible moment in time where hardware and software make transformative innovation possible. The hardware is #masstimber, a beautiful, sustainable, and precise material that leverages digital design. And now, with software that optimizes structural grids and allows hundreds of design iterations to be calculated and evaluated in minutes, the two can be combined for unprecedented speed and efficiency. Leveraging decades of real estate development, management, construction and finance expertise - we combine that expertise to create transformative buildings that are aesthetically superior, repeatable, and better for its inhabitants, neighbors and investors.

As you all know, sustainability is an important topic to us and New Land Enterprises as we focus on #masstimber development. We’ve been working on the next step in sustainable development for months now. If we really want to source sustainably, we have to take the humans out of it. No people, no impact. But how can we do this? We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative that promises to redefine urban development and eco-conscious building practices. We will bring on a team of twelve local beavers to sustainably harvest wood, without the use of machinery that contributes to the carbon footprint.   Recognizing the invaluable contributions that these industrious creatures can offer, Timber + Partners is committed to harnessing their expertise in sustainable forestry to drive forward a new era of environmentally friendly architecture. This innovative approach not only underscores the company's dedication to sustainability but also marks a significant step towards fostering harmony between urban development and natural ecosystems. “We are not just making the world more sustainable; we are also creating jobs. The beavers will, of course, be treated humanely,” commented Tim(ber) Gokhman, CEO of Timber + Partners, “and will have the opportunity to enroll in the company’s 401k, health benefits, parental leave (2 weeks), and most importantly, dental benefits. They will not be eligible for PTO.”
