About us

Nestled just south of Colorado’s capital city, Castle Rock is a thriving, world-class community. With about 85,000 residents, Castle Rock values its small-town character, with a traditional downtown core and cherished community events. Castle Rock is a full-service municipality. It employs about 600 full-time employees to provide residents police, fire, emergency medical, parks, recreation, water and transportation services. The Town also serves as the Douglas County seat and is home to the headquarters for Douglas County School District, Douglas County, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and a local Colorado State Patrol troop. As the community continues growing, the Town will continue to provide high-quality services while preserving the history and heritage of Castle Rock. At the same time, the Town will remain physically freestanding from the rest of the metro area. The Town’s identity stems not only from the namesake rock, but also from the scenic natural landscape that surrounds it. There are more than 110 miles of trails, 55 well-planned parks and more than 6,700 acres of open space for residents and visitors to enjoy, making Castle Rock a regular on Money magazine’s top places to live list. (See other ways the Town has been recognized at CRgov.com/Recognition.) In order to preserve their rich traditions and quality of life, Castle Rock residents effectively manage change. The community works to enhance the Town’s self-sufficiency and foster a strong local economy, making Castle Rock an attractive place to work and own or start a business.

Help contribute to holiday cheer in Castle Rock during the Season of the Star. Local businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor and decorate a tree in Festival Park. The $150 sponsorship includes a 5-foot live, pre-lit pine tree complete with a crated, wrapped root ball and sponsor acknowledging sign. Sponsors may choose to decorate their tree with either "take-away" promotional items or permanent ornaments. Your tree will not only serve to enhance the festive atmosphere in Downtown during the holidays but will help the spirit of giving continue long after the holiday season when the tree is planted in a Town park. Learn more and secure your tree at CRgov.com/TreeFestival 👈

Customer service is a big part of what we do at Castle Rock Water. This week is #CustomerServiceWeek and we ask you to help us celebrate the amazing people who help our customers every day. Each year, our customer service representatives answer 24,000 calls, respond to 3,500 emails, and conduct 3,000 transfers of service for more than 27,000 customers. Let us know how we are doing and rate our service at CRgov.com/CRWSurvey. ❓Most common question: How do I transfer service? Answer: The title company or landlord does it! 🧐Most common question we answer but can't help with: Why isn’t my hot water working? Answer: The water heater in your home is responsible for that — not Castle Rock Water. #WaterWednesday

Is your showerhead more that 10 years old? If it is, it's probably time to take three minutes to replace it. It’s Shower Better Month and a perfect time to swap old water fixtures with new WaterSense labeled versions. In 2014, Colorado made it mandatory that all water fixtures sold inthe State be WaterSense labeled to ensure water efficiency. By replacing just one showerhead with a WaterSense labeled model, EPA estimates the average family can save 2,700 gallons of water each year. And since these water savings will reduce demands on water heaters, they will also save energy — which adds up to more than $75 in energy and water costs saved every year. #WeWorkForYou Spotlight: Meet Matt, Park Planner Matt joined the Town of Castle Rock in April 2023, but his contributions started long before that as a contractor on projects like Cobblestone Ranch Park and Butterfield Crossing Park. Today, he manages everything from major projects like building the new Emerald Park to in-house designs like Centennial Park’s court replacements. He also plays a crucial role in reviewing development plans to ensure the future of Castle Rock’s public land and trails. Why does Matt love his role? It’s all about variety. From collaborating with consultants to solving complex construction challenges, no two days are the same. And when it comes to rewarding moments, nothing beats seeing a park come to life and the community enjoying the new spaces. Matt’s Favorite Place in Castle Rock? Our open spaces! Whether he’s hiking, mountain biking or walking his dog, it’s where he finds time to re-focus and recharge. 💬 How do you balance creativity and collaboration in your role? Share your thoughts in the comments!

September is National Preparedness Month. While being prepared for an emergency or disaster is important year-round, today the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department wants to help you start a conversation with your loved ones. Talking about bad things that could happen, like a disaster or emergency, isn’t always easy. We may think we’re protecting the people we love by avoiding these conversations, but they are important to start taking steps to get ready and stay safe.  By taking simple steps, you can build your preparedness at your own pace: ✅ Set aside a time when everyone is calm and relaxed ✅ It may help to hold the discussions over a set time period so decisions aren’t rushed, and people feel more comfortable talking about the topic ✅ Talk about steps you’ve taken to prepare, and encourage others to ask questions about preparedness actions that might work for them Who would you share this information with? Visit FEMA at ready.gov/be-informed for more resources to discuss with friends and family and for your own planning.
