A scalable AI solution to identify, locate, and assign condition to every roadway asset in an agency’s inventory.
About us
Transconomy provides cutting-edge tools to state and local transportation agencies for collecting roadway images and automatically extracting assets to create GIS-based infrastructure inventories using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Transconomy identifies assets such as traffic control devices (e.g., traffic signs, signals, etc.) based on Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for Streets and Highways. It also extracts critical facilities and infrastructure such as safety appurtenances (e.g., guardrails, barriers, fire hydrants, etc.), and other ancillary structures (e.g., object markers, utility and transmission posts and lines, parking meters, etc.) meeting Model Inventory of Roadway Elements (MIRE) specifications recommended by Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The power of data is in its usability and application to solve critical issues facing municipalities. Yesterday, during #OTEC2024, Pong Wu, Transportation Director for the Richland County Regional Planning Commission (RCRPC) and Jonathan Groeger presented just how powerful usable data can be! Connecting need to solution, scope to deliverables, and data to decisions brought context to all aspects of the RCRPC’s Transportation Data Collection, Asset Inventory, and Safety Enhancement project. The collected and delivered data is assisting pavement management, sign management, safety studies, transit, and compliance with regulations for 19 townships, and five cities. It is also supporting funding based on data driven information. What question do you want to answer about your transportation asset(s)? Want to know more or have some questions answered? From conversations and presentations, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, PWX 2024 was a great success! As agencies strive to manage program and policy needs from a data driven framework, the conversation around transportation asset data is evolving. Data silos are being removed and data integration is a must. Flexibility in collection methods and delivery formats are necessary. It was fantastic to have many outstanding discussions around the opportunities AI based asset extraction can offer to agencies and the firms that are assisting them. Want to know more? Agile collection allows for more complete assets! From older, narrow streets and alleys to multi-purpose pathways and trails, every project has those sections that require nimble data collection. While working on our recent project with the City of Allentown, there were several alleys and streets that were especially narrow and short (Allentown was founded in 1762 – so this isn’t surprising), so vehicle-based collection was not suitable. Utilizing an E-bike, GoPro cameras are easily mounted, and collection was completed. The geo-coded images can be imported to Transconomy’s HUB and the same AI models are utilized as vehicle-based collected images. Flexibility and agility in data collection is critical to project success in asset inventory projects. With the ability to ingest geo-coded images from a variety of sources, Transconomy allows for the appropriate mode of data collection (vehicle-based, drone-based, aerial, or bike-based) to be used to ensure completeness of coverage for any project area. The same advanced models can be utilized to deliver the inventory and condition information for the assets, providing accurate, robust, spatially referenced detailed information for your transportation assets – supporting management, planning, and decision making. #ai #agile #datacollection #assetextraction #assetinventory #ebike #roadwayassets #transportation #transconomy

Faster, Cheaper, Higher Quality – Can your asset detection and condition rating program do that? Current imaging technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) models are making asset inventory and condition rating more accessible and robust. This allows agencies to incorporate current, accurate data into their decision-making processes – for management, safety, planning, and design.
