  • Did you know TriStar Horizon offers a Stroke Support group? Leaders and therapists from our Rehab team host the group, offering both educational and general support for individuals with new strokes, stroke survivors, and caregivers. Their goal is to create a sense of community and support. 41-year-old stroke survivor, Joanna, recently attended for the first time. Her husband, James, attended alongside her and they found it incredibly helpful as they navigate life after her stroke. Following the meeting, the team celebrated her ability to stand and raise her arm; tasks that some may take for granted but it was a moment worthy of celebrating! Joanna reflected on her journey in our Rehab unit. She shared it was a great experience and a partnership with all caregivers and therapists; full of positivity, some sense of humor and a lot of determination. Per James, the team also earned his trust and he was able to leave for periods of time knowing she was safe and in good hands. The team also conducted a home evaluation with Joanna and James; assessing things like their sidewalk, stairs, and furniture arrangement. This was helpful for the couple and gave them peace of mind. On August 7th, the team gathered around Joanna and James as they celebrated her discharge and headed home! We appreciate Joanna and James trusting us with her care. TriStar Horizon holds Stroke Support Groups every 2nd Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. in our 3rd Floor Classroom. • TriStar Horizon would like to sincerely thank Doug Beecham and Scotty Barnhill with the Recovery Court for spreading joy in our hospital earlier this week! They delivered some lovely bouquets of flowers that our nurses took to some lucky patients. Many received with tears in their eyes as it lifted their spirits and took their mind off of their illness for a moment. Doug and Scotty have started partnering with a local grocery store who provides them with flowers that are slightly beyond their prime, allowing them to share these bouquets with local nursing home residents, patients or just people they come across who could use a smile. You can also learn more about the amazing work they are doing in the 23rd District Drug Court Recovery Program by reading the recent Dickson Post article: https://bit.ly/4cHL1D8 We are confident this new endeavor will continue to blossom in our community! #SpreadingJoy #ActsofKindness #Community [ALT Text: Doug and Scotty on the left standing with six nurses and a cart of flowers]

  • It’s #WeShowUpWednesday, and we are excited to spotlight a new colleague who is already making a huge impact on our patients! Meet Ashlee, a phlebotomist, who went above and beyond for a patient during one of her first shifts at TriStar Horizon! A patient who had been unexpectedly admitted shared with Ashlee that his phone was dead and he didn’t have a charger with him. Ashlee checked her car for a charger but unfortunately didn’t find one. However, she didn’t stop there as she grabbed one from home and brought it to him when she returned for work the next day. We know this small act of kindness made a big difference for that patient. Thank you, Ashlee, for showing up for our patients with purpose and passion. We are grateful you are part of our hospital family! #WeShowUp #TriStarHorizon [ALT Text: Photo of Ashlee on the left with text on the right that reads We show up Wednesday spotlighting Ashlee, phlebotomist]

  • As part of HCA Healthcare, TriStar Horizon is dedicated to improving more lives and creating healthier tomorrows. When we partner and support organizations like Dickson County Help Center, we produce a stronger and healthier community together. They take a holistic approach to helping their neighbors; providing aid in the form of food, clothing, and many other resources to the citizens of Dickson County on an emergency basis. Most importantly, they offer hope, extend compassion, and provide dignity to those they serve. We look forward to fostering this relationship and encourage our colleagues and community to get involved! • We are excited to kick off #WeShowUpWednesday at TriStar Horizon where we will spotlight colleagues who show up for their patients and each other! This week, in honor of World Breastfeeding Week, we are spotlighting certified lactation counselor, Jill Bennett, RN. We appreciate her dedication to provide support and empathy to mothers learning to breastfeeding in our Birth Center. She recently joined our hospital family in May, however she has spent 32 years as a nurse in women’s services. Many of those years were spent in the NICU and in prenatal care which is her passion. When asked why she loves her job, Jill shared, “I love meeting the new moms! If I can do one thing to make them more comfortable while breastfeeding, then I’ve done my job. I want to help them manage their expectations and ease their mind that it’s a journey and a learning process between mom and baby.” She is currently partnering with colleague Laura Stinnet, RN, IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant) to bring back prenatal classes at TriStar Horizon. We look forward to sharing more in the near future! In the meantime, feel free to call 615.326.BABY (2229) for any questions about your breastfeeding journey. #WorldBreastfeedingWeek #WeShowUpWednesday #TriStarHorizonBirthCenter

  • TriStar Horizon celebrated our recipients of the prestigious HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction earlier this summer. Gabe Triplett, ER director, received the Employee Frist Humanitarian Award, and she was recently selected as our TriStar Division’s Employee Frist Humanitarian winner. This is the highest honor bestowed upon a colleague out of the 15,000 people who work for TriStar Division! This morning, we recognized Gabe for this achievement among her peers and also welcomed her mother, State Representative Mary Littleton, to join our celebration. She offered her congratulations and commended our hospital leaders for providing our community with high quality, healthcare services. Thank you, Gabe, for your extraordinary work both in our hospital for our patients and outside of our four walls serving the community! #CareLikeFamily

  • TriStar Horizon enjoyed participating in the 9th annual community baby shower event this past weekend. 🍼💕💙 Our Birth Center nurses enjoyed meeting expecting mothers as well as reuniting with those they helped care for while delivering at TriStar Horizon.
