It’s been a pivotal year for sports – with the help of global events like The Olympics or a casual pickleball match, the demand for sports gear is on the rise. However, resale platforms are noticing a more specific trend, particularly in cycling wear. Trove’s VP of Partnerships, Peter Small, spoke with Modern Retail’s Julia Waldow on this recent pattern, noting how it has aligned with Trove’s business growth and is visible through its partnerships with REI and Patagonia. Given the apparel is designed for functionality and durability, outdoor gear is ideal for secondhand shopping. Consumers looking to purchase cycling apparel specifically are often faced with higher prices, making them prime candidates for the growing resale market. Now is the time for apparel brands to engage with customers with a branded resale program. With Trove, it can be done quickly, hassle-free, and ready to launch in as little as 4 weeks with the option to support peer-to-peer and Shopify integrations. Thank you, Modern Retail, for including us in this insightful piece! #TroveRecommerce #BrandedResale #SustainableRetail https://lnkd.in/g5c5yZZa

Did you know that secondhand purchases, including clothes, shoes, and accessories, are often taxed twice? Most states are still charging a sales tax on purchases made at thrift stores or resale sites. As a result, customers are paying the tax twice: first when the item is new and again when it's bought secondhand. The ACT (American Circular Textiles) has launched a campaign to make lawmakers and the broader public aware of this unfair double-dip into shoppers’ pocketbooks, including an ongoing petition. At Trove, we’re calling for support towards the ACT’s mission of fighting against the unfair tax burden placed on businesses and consumers driving the shift toward sustainable fashion. Join us in signing the petition at:  https://lnkd.in/ddUTXpbp #EndSecondhandTax #SustainableFashion

Approximately 24.3 billion pairs of shoes are manufactured on an annual basis worldwide, with the footwear industry generating about 1.4 million tonnes of waste per year. It’s time to revolutionize the way we think about shoe sustainability. Next Tuesday on September 17, Trove will be at the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA)'s Shoe Sustainability & Innovation Summit in Portland, with CEO Terry Boyle planning to speak on its “Rethinking Sustainable Marketing” panel, moderated by FDRA’s Andy Polk. Joining him in this discussion about communicating sustainable products and practices to consumers are executives from Archive, KEEN, ISA TanTec Ltd, and UBC Sauder School of Business’ Professor of Marketing & Behavioural Science Dr. Kate White. As sponsors for this year’s event, we’re looking forward to connecting with leaders on how the fashion and footwear industry can put their best foot forward towards a sustainable future. We love seeing our partners bring sustainability initiatives to life! Arc'teryx’s new NYC location on Broadway will be the first to offer ReGEAR products for customers to purchase in-store, ranging from repaired current styles to vintage items – all refurbished by Arc’teryx technicians to perform as good as new. With the help of QR codes found on product tags, customers can also be directly connected to the digital platform for an endless aisle experience and a broader range of available listings. Powered by Trove, Arc’teryx’s ReGEAR program allows customers to bring in gear that isn’t being used, and refurbish it to its initial design, extending the item’s active life for the next adventure. Stop by Arc’teryx’s new 580 Broadway 🗽🍎 or Toronto Bloor Street 🍁locations to check out this full-circle experience and support one of our many partners driving branded resale. #TroveRecommerce

With the start of September, back-to-school shopping remains a big moment for retailers in fashion, furniture, and supplies. However, for Gen Z, shopping resale and secondhand remains top of mind for this demographic with increasingly strong purchasing power. With the United States’ secondhand apparel market worth about $43 billion and Americans throwing away an average of 70 pounds of clothing a year, branded resale and secondhand marketplaces are still an untapped business opportunity for a majority of retailers. While it can be daunting for businesses to find the resources to put sustainable practices into action in today’s economy, Trove is here to put the concerns around branded resale programs to rest. As a technology provider that has supported the sale of over 10 million resale items for brands implementing resale programs, partnering with our team can ensure: ✏ Recommerce Warehouse Management System (WMS): Efficient item intake, routing, and disposition at scale. ✏ Operational Support: Hands-off technology for item intake, routing, and disposition, complemented by customer service training, marketing strategy, and 24/7 technical assistance. ✏ Seamless Integration: Efficient integration to grow your branded resale program both in-store and online for new and used items, understanding that time is money. ✏ Improved Retention and Acquisition: Better internal retention and customer acquisition rates, with 66% of Gen Zers willing to pay more for sustainable or environmentally-friendly products. ✏ Flexibility in Program Design: Customize a resale program that works for your business, whether it prioritizes Shopify integration, peer-to-peer, or trade-ins At Trove, we believe turning a profit in resale doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, we think it should be quick, hassle-free, and ready to launch in as little as 4 weeks. Our team brings over a decade of experience in managing profitable resale programs, making sure your brand can take part in today’s re-commerce world. #SustainableRetail https://lnkd.in/eSGjZXry

While the fashion industry's circular impact often centers around apparel, footwear's role in sustainability is stepping into the spotlight. We’re looking forward to hearing how businesses can address this crucial aspect at Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA)’s Shoe Sustainability & Innovation Summit in Portland on September 17. At its “Rethinking Sustainable Marketing” panel, moderated by FDRA’s Andy Polk, Trove CEO Terry Boyle will share his perspective on how brands can better understand and message sustainable products and work to consumers. In this discussion, Archive Co-Founder and CTO Ryan Rowe, KEEN’s CMO Nicks Ericsson, ISA Tantec ISA’s Executive Chairman Tom Schneider, Executive Chairman, and UBC Sauder School of Business’s Professor of Marketing & Behavioural Science Dr. Kate White will also be sharing key learnings from past successful campaigns, along with pitfalls to watch out for when crafting circular initiatives. As proud partners of the FDRA for this year’s event, we can’t wait to participate in meaningful discussions shaping the future of sustainable footwear. At Trove, we love bringing awareness to the growing trend of consumers viewing clothing as less disposable. This article by Allyson Chiu and John Farrell in The Washington Post highlights how shoppers are increasingly turning to repair services and trade-in programs to extend the life of their garments. It's great to see Trove partners Arc'teryx, Patagonia, and REI featured alongside commentary from Trove founder, Andy Ruben. “These programs can help change how you see shopping from the moment you choose your item, to how you wear and care for it, and what you do with it once you no longer need it.” #TroveRecommerce #SustainableRetail #ResaleInnovation #CircularEconomy #ClothingRepair #SecondhandStyle #ClothingResale

"Shoppers are increasingly starting to see clothing as less disposable, and instead of buying more, they’re tapping into repair services and programs that allow them to fix or trade in their old gear. This is giving used items a second, or even third or fourth, life — and keeping them out of landfills." Huge thank you to Allyson Chiu for this deep dive into ReBIRD for The Washington Post. Shout out to to Elena Galindo, Helen Sotropa, Dominique Showers and the whole Arc'teryx Equipment 580 Broadway team for letting us invade the ReBIRD Service Centre and nerd out on all things circularity. As the resale market continues to evolve, brands like COYUCHI are keeping resale as an important part of their strategy to meet consumer demand. Kasi Martin's piece for Sourcing Journal explores the complex world of reverse logistics that powers resale, highlighting our partners at Tersus and Bleckmann. At Trove, we're proud to be part of the transformation of the industry. Our recent acquisition of Recurate strengthens our market leadership by integrating Shopify and peer-to-peer solutions into our enterprise platform. We're doubling down on our commitment to making branded resale more accessible and supporting the launch and scaling of resale programs for all brands. #TroveRecommerce #SustainableRetail #ResaleInnovation #SourcingJournal #ReverseLogistics #CircularEconomy

The world of resale continues to evolve, but it remains an important part of COYUCHI's strategy since we launched 2nd Home Renewed in 2017. Thanks, Kasi Martin, for the chance to share some of what we're seeing through our partnership with Bleckmann and Recurate/Trove in this great Sourcing Journal article. "The home and textile brand, which expanded its partnership with Bleckmann and Recurate earlier this year, is focused on getting the front end of its resale right. What’s interesting, Chung elaborated, is that this goes the other way too. Customers may be attracted to COYUCHI 2nd Home Renewed because of the lower price point or risk and then convert to the mainline later if they like the product. About 40 percent of the brand’s renewed orders today are from mixed carts." #resale #recommerce #sustainability #circularity #ecommerce #hometextiles
