Public Safety designs have many unique requirements for safety, ease of use and accessibility. The Village of McFarland Public Safety Center houses the Fire & Rescue, Police, and Municipal Court departments all under one roof, and is on pace to be the first net zero public safety center in the region (will be verified one-year post-occupation)! Together, our team worked with the Village of McFarland to make their sustainable vision come to life and will serve the community for years to come. Our very own John Mahon, delivery team leader, architect + associate has been busy presenting International Existing Building Code (IEBC) regulations to local areas in Iowa, to aid their cities and building officials. Existing buildings are an asset to communities, and when approached for development, questions are often raised related to what is allowed and how to make them more safe. These sessions provide clarity and establish guidelines that result in safer buildings, while protecting these valuable structures. His dedication and passion make these seminars a valuable experience for all attendees, including fire marshals, building inspectors, city council members, and city staff. Be on the lookout for more seminars from John!
