Thriving people. Healthy relationships. Peaceful communities.

About us

Tubman is a multi-service agency with over 45 years of experience providing family crisis and support services, formed from the merger of Chrysalis, A Center for Women; Harriet Tubman Center; Family Violence Network; and ElderCare Rights Alliance. Our philosophy is rooted in our namesake and inspiration, Harriet Tubman. Facing unrelenting adversities, she advised others to simply, "Keep going..." Each year Tubman delivers accessible and effective services to about 17,000 people of all ages, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced relationship violence, trafficking, homelessness, mental and chemical health challenges, and other trauma. Built on a history of innovation, efficiency, and partnerships, Tubman offers countless ways to help. We provide safe shelter and housing, legal services, mental and chemical health counseling, youth programs, violence prevention, wrap-around services, and community education.

Thank you longtime volunteer and now board member Veronika Lantseva for sharing her story and why Harriet's Haven for Pets means so much. Check out her interview, here, and to support Harriet's Haven and learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/gR9-7C7s. "'It's going to be a game changer,' said Lantseva. 'Often times, for survivors, they have to make that impossible choice between staying in a home where they're not safe, and leaving their pet behind with their abuser who could hurt their pet when they realize they're gone.'" https://bit.ly/3Way0Mf

Did you know that Tubman is a Target Community Partner?! From now through September 30, you can support Tubman by voting for us in the Target app and online at Target.com/circle. But HOW do you vote, you ask? It's easy! • Open your Target app or sign in to Target.com • Open "My Target" and tap/click on "Community Support Votes" or "Vote for Nonprofits." The number of eligible votes you have will appear. • Tap/click "Cast Votes" to see the eligible organizations in your area that you can vote for. Tubman should be one of them (if not, what the video below!) • Tap the + button to add up your votes for Tubman, then cast your vote! PSST! HERE'S AN IMPORTANT TIP: Make sure your Target store in the app is set to one of the stores within Tubman's area! You can do this by following the video below or by searching by zip code. Stores include Minnetonka, Chanhassen, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Apple Valley, West Saint Paul, Knollwood, Savage, Chaska, Richfield, and Edina. Remember, you can earn votes on qualifying transactions by checking into Target Circle in-stores, ordering from the Target App. There is no purchase necessary to vote. This means you can vote for Tubman more than once (and we highly encourage that!) through September 30. For questions on the Tubman side, email give@tubman.org, and for more information about Target Circle, the Community Partnerships, and to enroll, visit target.com/circle. Happy voting!

"'We know that this population in particular, with higher rates of significant mental health conditions, higher rates of substance use disorders, are facing a lot of barriers already,' said Stephanie Nelson-Dusek, a research scientist behind the Wilder Foundation's Minnesota Homeless Study, conducted every three years. 'Piling on more barriers is not a solution to ending homelessness.'" https://bit.ly/4btC3ci

In case you missed it last week! "'No one who has been abused should have to worry about their abuser getting a gun," [President] Biden said in a statement. 'As a result of today’s ruling, survivors of domestic violence and their families will still be able to count on critical protections, just as they have for the past three decades.'" https://bit.ly/4bkiIKk
