Next-generation #geothermal, such as superhot rock geothermal, has the potential to meet long-term demands for zero-carbon, always-on power. This month, CATF’s Terra Rogers joined 100+ government, industry, and finance stakeholders at an International Energy Agency (IEA) workshop to accelerate the adoption of next-generation geothermal energy on a global scale. The workshop will serve as input for a forthcoming IEA report on the future of geothermal. Policy recommendations from reports like this are historically at the precipice of change and CATF is hopeful that this report will unlock support for the R&D necessary to bring next-generation geothermal to cost parity with fossil fuels, even in unsubsidized markets.
