  • Northern Ireland is a fantastic place to invest, work and live – which is why, ahead of St Patrick’s Day, we were honoured to fill our Residence with people passionate about its future growth. Always building on the bedrock of peace afforded by the hard-won Belfast/Good Friday Agreement, our Embassy and the UK Government are committed to working with the US to ensure even greater prosperity and security for our nations. On both sides of the Atlantic there was, there has, and there continues to be, a deep determination from Americans, British, Irish and Irish Americans of all traditions, to fulfil the promise of a peaceful and prosperous Northern Ireland. There’s little doubt that this is a really exciting time to realise even more of the potential for Northern Ireland and that is what we are doing here at the Embassy – putting our shoulders behind it, in order to help bring new development, investment and partnership opportunities. As Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, said at our breakfast, there is a lot of goodwill towards Northern Ireland. He added: “There’s such a strong historic bond between Northern Ireland and the United States. It’s been a great gathering of people to talk about trade and investment opportunities.”

  • The UK is among the best in the world at taking new research and innovation - and turning into real life solutions. And there is huge potential for US industry to capitalise on this.... Find out how ⬇️

🚀 UK University Spinouts: A Powerhouse of Innovation Did you know that UK university spinouts make up, in terms of investment, 60% of the top 25 pharmaceutical & biotech start-ups, 44% of healthcare devices start-ups, & 28% of semiconductor start-ups in the UK? UK Research and Innovation showcased at #AUTM50 last week how strategic US-UK partnerships can accelerate research commercialisation & support the UK Spinout Declaration. We're committed to bridging the gap between groundbreaking research & market-ready solutions, supporting researchers through every stage of the commercialisation journey. Working alongside Knowledge Exchange UK & Department for Business and Trade North America, we highlighted the immense potential for US industry to partner with UK academic institutions. Our roundtable on 'Commercialisation across borders' sparked dynamic discussions on international best practices, revealing how—despite different contexts—research commercialisation consistently delivers substantial economic and societal value. More information about research commercialisation in the UK can be found by visiting the UKRI website. • Leadership in Action: The UK's Air and Space Attaché to the US Air Cdre Nikki Thomas represents RAF excellence on the global stage: She joined allies and partners at the Air & Space Forces Association Symposium in Colorado to moderate the "NATO In Action" panel. The distinguished panel included top experts - Lt Gen Luigi Del Bene (Deputy Commander, Italian 1st Air Region Command), Tom Goffus (Assistant Secretary General for Operations and NATO Secretary General's Special Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism) and Brig Gen Andy 'Spoo' Clark (Commander of NATO ISR Force). Together, they explored NATO's three core tasks: deterrence and defence, crisis prevention & management and cooperative security - all fundamental to our collective defence mission.

  • Building bridges through science 🧬: UK scientists met with key allies and partners in Hawaii to discuss our joint work on technology challenges, exploring what we can learn from each other in operational environments. Our lead for Defence Science and Technology – Rosie Smith - accompanied the UK’s Senior Strategic Scientist to forge new partnerships at the Pacific Operational Science and Technology Conference. Collaborations like these create great opportunities for UK businesses and researchers to work together while strengthening our global security network.
