Let's hear it for this week's Teammate of the Week, Haleigh Cobb! Haleigh says: "In nursing school, I had the opportunity to do my final clinical rotation in the UNC Health Blue Ridge Family Center. I knew from that day, The Family Center was home. I am the nurse I am today because of UNC Health Blue Ridge, where teamwork, excellence, and patient-centered care are at the heart of everything we do. As a labor and delivery nurse, I have the privilege of supporting families through one of the most life-changing moments of their lives. Being able to provide compassionate care, comfort, and guidance to mothers and their loved ones during such an intimate and sometimes challenging experience is truly rewarding. I am proud to work for such an amazing organization, and wouldn’t trade this career for anything!"

Recently we were honored to host Miss Morganton-Zoe Charles at our Blue Ridge Cancer Center and UNC Health Blue Ridge Morganton Campus. Zoe is interested in pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant and is currently focusing on promoting breast cancer awareness through her CSI initiative, “Beyond the Ribbon.” While on her tour, Zoe was able to engage with several of our teammates and learn more about the programs and services offered to individuals and families in our community.

Recently, UNC Health Blue Ridge's HR team had the privilege of visiting with the Future Healthcare Executives of Appalachian State University! The team spoke about what it takes to be an effective leader and discussed how emotional intelligence and self awareness are crucial to have when leading a healthcare organization, but ultimately, it takes a great team to sustain a successful and healthy work culture.

Give a 👍 for Teammate of the Week, Mary Mazaleski! Mary says she loves working for UNC Health Blue Ridge because "it’s like working with family. The relationships I’ve created here have had a positive impact on who I am as a technologist. The overall sense of teamwork promotes an environment that invites learning and growth. I also hold a special appreciation for our patients and our community. Like a symbiotic relationship, making their days brighter, even if only a little at a time, makes my days brighter. After an amazing 40 years of dedication and compassionate care, Carol Ervin is retiring from UNC Health Blue Ridge. Throughout her career, Carol has touched countless lives with her unwavering commitment to nursing and her exceptional ability to make every patient feel heard, cared for, and valued. Carol, thank you for your extraordinary service and the positive impact you’ve had on so many. Your legacy of compassion, professionalism, and hard work will continue to inspire those who follow in your footsteps. Wishing you a well-deserved retirement filled with joy and relaxation. Join us in congratulating our newest PETALS Award winner, Emma Herman! Emma's nomination stated: "Emma is a wonderful CNA and trainer who goes above and beyond. She has a great bedside manner. She did hourly rounding on me, sometimes more frequently to make sure I had everything that I needed. Emma has a positive attitude and is a real go-getter.
