Why is United Way important to the future of Greater Cleveland? Philanthropist Jim Ratner has an answer. “Despite the many challenges in Cleveland, United Way has remained a vibrant central hub for change,” he says. “It’s the one organization that cuts across the entire community, actively working to improve outcomes to effect lasting change.” That’s why, when the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Supporting Foundation awarded United Way a $10 million challenge grant to fund an endowment, Susan and James Ratner jumped at the chance to participate. “The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation’s gift speaks volumes about their belief in United Way’s work, and their commitment to this community, and it is very important we support this endowment,” Susan and James Ratner explain. We celebrate the generosity and commitment of the Mandel Supporting Foundation and the 20+ donors who have contributed to this endowment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping ensure we can carry our work into the future.
