#HousingNews we're reading this week: "That’s especially notable, because there’s a federal housing rule that effectively blocks the construction of new public housing in cities that have already met their cap. Known as the Faircloth Amendment, it was passed during the Clinton administration, when welfare reform was high on the national agenda. It limits the number of units an agency can construct or own using its own funding." https://lnkd.in/gGmguwME

Give to the Max Day is Thursday, November 21st, but early giving begins TODAY! Now through #GTMD, every dollar you give will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. Your gift will go twice as far in helping us provide safe, affordable housing for families in North Minneapolis. But that's not all—if Urban Homeworks receives 100 donations, an anonymous donor will contribute an additional $10,000! Whether you give $10 or $100, your donation will make a real difference. https://lnkd.in/gNAyzqp8

We had a blast at our last community planting event of year! 🌳🌼🎨 🌱 With ten residents, our Community Relations team planted four native gardens and two trees at an Urban Homeworks site in North Minneapolis. Urban Homeworks is a Minneapolis nonprofit focused on providing affordable, dignified housing while fostering equity and community empowerment. Residents got to learn how to plant native plants and we had great discussions around trees, rain gardens, and their benefits. We also added new benches built by our Community Relations team so residents can enjoy their space and new gardens! Earlier this month, we worked together to make some nature-inspired art along the fence and it’s been fun to see everything come together! 🌟 Thank you to all who took part in this event and the many projects we completed this growing season with community. See you next year! 💛 #CommunityPlanting #CommunityGarden #GreenSpaceForAll #CommunityEmpowerment

Just this year, Urban Homeworks needs to spend $296,800 to repair and replace critical needs in 75 apartment homes. We are so grateful to Wells Fargo for seeing this need and responding. We still have a long way to go, but their recent gift of $40,000 to support our capital improvements will do amazing work for our residents!
