The U.S. Department of Transportation is excited to introduce the Rural Autonomous Vehicle (RAV) Research Program, an innovative initiative backed by a total of $25 million in awards to two key areas: $15 million for Passenger Transportation: Led by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this research will focus on the integration of automated vehicles into passenger transport, testing high-precision mapping technologies and multimodal vehicle fleet operations. $10 million for Freight Movement: The University of California, Berkeley will direct its efforts towards improving the efficiency and safety of autonomous freight vehicles, particularly focusing on rural logistics and supply chain enhancements in the Southwest. https://is.gd/fi1NVq

Latest SMART grant news: U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Nashville two “SMART” grants for LiDAR technology to prioritize safety and improve traffic flow on roads in Davidson County. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Dr. Robert C. The White House announced today that Dr. Chowdhury has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. It is the nation's highest honor for mentors who work with underrepresented groups to develop fully the nation's human resources in STEM. The National Science Foundation (NSF) manages the award on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
