We love and live the values of Amanda Gorman's "The Hill We Climb" poem so much, our staff decided to offer a visual interpretation of it. To read the text of the poem in its entirety, visit https://lnkd.in/gkXS9XQJ. It’s #superhero day in our office! 🦹🏽🦸🏿♀️🦹♀️🦸🏽♂️ The team celebrated favorite fictional characters and real life icons at our monthly staff meeting, and also got to learn fun new facts about one another. We topped the morning off with a little game-play. Did you know that giant puzzles are a lot like equity work in that progress is slow and hard won? 😂 Who is your superhero?

#Prop5 can help us reach a more equitable #BayArea. "California’s housing crisis isn't just a headline – it's a daily reality reshaping our communities and destroying the lives of thousands of our neighbors — mostly seniors and people of color. With affordable housing and homelessness dominating public discourse, court dockets, and kitchen table conversations, voters in Sacramento and across California will have a pivotal opportunity this fall to impact the future of housing affordability: Voters have an opportunity this fall to reclaim power over our housing future by supporting Proposition 5. The Bay Area has built about 50% of the affordable housing we desperately need, while simultaneously overbuilding above moderate-income housing by 200%." This week, United Way celebrated its 137th anniversary. 🎉 Pretty cool to know that our chapter has been around for 100 of those years. We may not have photo proof dating back for all of it, but we did want to share some images we found in our warehouse that showcase people doing the work right here in the mid-Central Valley through the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Our model has always been the same: help local community members with the assistance of corporate, community, and government partners. Feel free to tag anyone you know! And Happy Birthday, United Way! 🥳
