"Don't Call It a Comeback" Well, I never thought I'd be quoting LL Cool J on LinkedIn, or in a post about IT infrastructure, but here we are.... While AI is getting all the glory right now (and seemingly more budget, innovation and boardroom attention), mainframes have quietly been hustling behind the scenes, doing the heavy duty, high-speed data processing that those newfangled AI models and tools need. As Belle Lin at The Wall Street Journal reports, "Even if mainframes are destined to eventually fade away, it is unlikely to happen soon." Truly one of the most inspiring events I've ever been too. How cool to have a V2 Communications' client that has such immense impact!
What an incredible three days we’ve had at #BESummit24. The innovation, commitment, and optimism is something we’ll carry through the rest of the year and well into the future. Here are a few of our favorite moments from Thursday: - Mario Fernandez of the Catalyst Team laid out a guide for how to unlock capital in climate tech. - Secretary John Kerry sat down for an insightful conversation on the partnerships between private and public sectors: "I'm so excited about the potential of what you all can do. Because the key here is the private sector investment... that's what we have to achieve." - During a breakout session we learned more about how in order to stabilize our climate we’re going to need to revolutionize existing industries in addition to creating entirely new sectors. While we’ve made huge progress in scaling back emissions from the automotive industry, we have farther to go. We heard from pioneering innovators who are pioneering new ways to grow food and transport goods and humans around the globe. - Founder & President of The Earthshot Prize, his Royal Highness, Prince William helped close out the afternoon by reminding us what’s possible when innovators are given the freedom to take risks. - Finally, as #BESummit24 came to an end Rodi Guidero and Bill Gates urged all of us to be bold in our action as we strive towards a net-zero future.
