Leading with Safety, Supporting with Compassion: Congrats to February 2025 Hero, Erica Feldmann See what her colleagues had to say: Erica's efforts exemplify caregiver commitment through the unwavering support she provides to all clinical and non-clinical staff members at Valley Medical Center. Her leadership in guiding the organization through seven RCA cases in 2024 ensured that all team members involved had the resources, education, and collaborative environment needed to address safety concerns and implement meaningful process improvements. By establishing the Falls Committee, Erica created a vital platform for interdisciplinary teamwork, empowering staff across all departments to identify risks, investigate fall events, and implement prevention strategies that enhance patient care. Erica's dedication extends beyond processes—she is a mentor and resource for her colleagues, offering training, encouragement, and actionable insights that empower everyone she works with to prioritize safety and quality." "We are so lucky to have Erica as one of our Patient Safety Specialists! She brings her bedside nursing experience together with her knowledge of human factors, error-prevention, and safety culture to support leaders in preventing harm to patients by improving our processes and systems."

Congratulations Chris Martin for being our Volunteer of the Quarter! About his nomination: Chris Martin is crossed trained to work as a shuttle driver, as well as helping at the Main Info Desk. He's been a volunteer with us for 2 years and 9 months, and is already helping to train new volunteers, and does it with a smile. Chris is a quick learner, one who sees things that needs to be done, and does them without being asked. One example was, he noticed the shuttle needed to be vacuumed, and he took it upon himself to vacuum it out even though that wasn't part of his job duties. This shows how Chris goes the extra mile to ensure patients have a clean and safe environment. One of Chris's nominators said, "She was coming into the hospital limping, and Chris saw her, grabbed a wheelchair, and took her to her appointment without question. She mentioned that this encounter by far has been one of the best experiences she's had here at Valley." Chris, we appreciate all that you do, and are excited to be recognizing you for a job well done!

Congratulations to Peegee Cruz, a Registered Nurse in the Infusion Center, and our latest DAISY award winner! Her nomination describes a moment of true advocacy and dedication to patient care. When a patient faced an unexpected delay in receiving a critical medication, Peegee stepped in without hesitation. She recognized the urgency of the situation, communicated with the appropriate teams, and ensured that the patient received the correct medication as quickly as possible. What stood out most to the patient was not just her efficiency, but the way she made them feel seen, heard, and prioritized. Rather than accepting delays as routine, she took action—ensuring safety, accuracy, and timely care. The patient, who has worked in healthcare for 25 years, shared that they had never experienced such strong, unwavering advocacy on their behalf. This award is in honor of her compassion, persistence, and commitment to exceptional care.

Congratulations to Alberto Gomez, a Medical Assistant at our Covington Urgent Care Clinic and one of our January 2025 Employees of the Month! See what his colleague had to say: “Alberto always comes in with a smile on his face, greets his patients with a good morning and makes them feel welcomed. If any patient comes in distress, Alberto quickly takes initiative and gets the patient back to be seen and does everything he can in his power to get the patient care going, SBARs with the providers and in case anything else is needed he will do it. if there is a will there is a way and Alberto fills that meaning fully.
