Thank you to everyone who joined us for our White Cane Awareness Day celebration at Vibrant Works! 👏 The event began with a march for our employees, highlighting the power and significance of the white cane. "White Cane Awareness Day is a special day to celebrate independence and empowerment," said Cindy Watson, President and CEO of Vibrant Works. "At Vibrant Works, we are committed to empowering people with vision loss through employment and critical services like learning how to use the white cane. We’re proud to provide these services to our community." We were honored to have San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg read the official proclamation and emphasize the importance of the day. “I’m very honored to be here; this is a wonderful organization, and the things that happen here are nothing short of miraculous,” said Mayor Nirenberg. “Every citizen of San Antonio wants to achieve what you all are achieving — empowerment and independence. The work that happens here is critically important for our entire community.” The event also featured remarks from Kirk VanRoekel, CRO of Cleanlogic, who announced that Cleanlogic will be donating a portion of its sales from H-E-B during October to Vibrant Works. “Over the last three years, Cleanlogic has donated over $90,000 to Vibrant Works,” VanRoekel said. “We are excited to see the results of this year’s program and aim to exceed the $100,000 mark in donations.” A special thank you to Monica Garza, MPA from H-E-B for their support and partnership. We’re also grateful to H-E-B for surprising us with a generous $10,000 gift to support our programs and services! Hearing from our own Jenny Salinas about the impact of the white cane on her life was truly inspiring. "My white cane is my constant companion, helping me navigate life with independence," Jenny shared. "The white cane symbolizes strength, courage, and the motivation to keep moving forward no matter what. Our white canes don’t just help us navigate the world, they help us see our own strength, one step at a time.” We’re grateful for the continued support of our community as we continue our mission to empower individuals with vision loss.✨ #WhiteCaneDay

A big thank you to Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) for visiting Vibrant Works today and for presenting us with a generous $3,000 donation to support our programs and services! During their visit, they toured our facilities and learned more about our mission to empower people with vision loss. Our Workforce Development Manager Amanda Gomez and Assistive Technology Trainer Christian Sanchez also provided blindness sensitivity training, demonstrating assistive technology and techniques like sighted guide. We appreciate your support, RBFCU! 💙 #VibrantWorks

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities and promote their capabilities in the workforce. At Vibrant Works, our mission is to empower people with vision loss. Roberta Flores, a machine operator, shares her experience: “I've been at Vibrant Works for 17 years. I’ve gone from knowing how to operate just one or two machines to working on eight or nine. It’s like a puzzle, and I want to learn more. What really makes a difference is the people. They make me feel comfortable and at home, knowing that there are others here who are blind or have low vision like me. When I first started, I was scared. But now, I don’t plan to leave. This is where I fit in, where I’ve accomplished so much, and where I want to retire."
