With #tradeshow attendance on an uptick recently, we’ve seen conversations around conference Wi-Fi swirling around LinkedIn. Wi-Fi is largely considered a fundamental need at trade shows, where vital data is constantly being uploaded and downloaded by presenters, exhibitors, and attendees. Presenters rely on trade shows to show off their products and connect with potential partners and customers, so their in-booth connectivity must be reliable. At the prices conference Wi-Fi vendors charge, you’d expect reliability, but users consistently report coverage drops and low data rates! Using VX60, Canon was able to bypass the obstacles presented by any other wireless communication option and unveil a new way to experience cinematic XR. VR/AR training is becoming more and more popular as a safe, cost-effective way to approach immersive learning in a multitude of industries. In sectors such as Public Safety, VR and AR training can both provide heart-pounding replications of the high-stakes, real-life situations that first-responders like firefighters find themselves in during their rescues, but in a controlled, secure environment where the possibility of injuries and even death are minimal. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) captured this concept in the linked video posted to their website. The NFPA reports that between 1977 and 2018, an average of nine firefighters tragically died each year during training. This staggering figure can virtually disappear with the use of VR in these educational but potentially life-threatening situations. Whatsmore, there are both environmental and cost savings benefits to utilizing VR for firefighter training. The environmental effects of live-fire training, which emits extensive amounts of carbon and in turn majorly consumes water, will be largely minimized with the use of VR training. Whatsmore, the exorbitant cost of live-fire training systems (that can span tens of thousands of dollars of investment by fire departments) can be drastically reduced given it does not require most of what live-fire setups do. VR is an ever-expanding industry that has almost unending applications, and with a system like our own VX60 Ultra, training a multitude of users at once or streaming high-quality experiences for effective immersion is made possible for critical applications like these.
