Exciting Detroit news! The iconic and legendary Motown Museum is expanding. 🎉🎶 Construction has started on the third and most substantial phase of the museum's recent renovations: a beautiful two level 40,000 square foot space planned to open summer 2026. ☀️ The new structure will be located behind the famous and world-renowned Hitsville U.S.A., the original location of Motown Records and home to the museum since 1985. Renderings released Monday showcase the lobby filled with gold highlights and images of Motown legends like Stevie Wonder, Margin Gaye, and Diana Ross. ✨ The building will also be home to a retail shop, new exhibit areas, and a theater sponsored by Ford Motor Company, creating a truly immersive museum experience. 🎬🛍️ Another exciting feature will be a dining spot called Miss Lillie’s Motown Cafe, named after Lillie Hart, who was the family caretaker in the Barry Gordy family. 🍽️ The announcement was made inside Hitsville Next, an educational and artist development that opened in 2021 as part of the museum’s first expansion phase. It was created by connecting three houses next to the main museum building. The second phase, which included a new plaza out front and restoration on the Hitsville house, was completed in 2022! 🙌 Join us in celebrating this exciting announcement and head to our website to learn more about visiting and touring the Motown Museum! https://bit.ly/3ZqwaKi
