We're absolutely thrilled to see so many of Washington’s amazing ports awarded grants for electrification projects! This is a huge leap forward for sustainable maritime operations in Washington State and is made possible by Washington's Climate Commitment Act (CCA) – a crucial driver of our state's clean energy future. Particular congratulations to our members: - Port of Bellingham - Port of Everett - Port of Seattle - The Northwest Seaport Alliance - Port Of Friday Harbor (a project we’ll be directly working with!) These projects are crucial to enabling emissions reductions for near-port communities and are bringing innovation to the waterfront. From electric vessels to shore power infrastructure, you're showing the world what's possible when we invest in clean technology. The Climate Commitment Act is the powerhouse behind these transformative projects. It's not just about reducing emissions – it's about creating jobs, driving innovation, and securing a resilient future for our maritime industry and communities. Ballot measure 2117, set for November, could repeal the Climate Commitment Act if successful. These port projects represent just a fraction of the positive change the CCA is driving across our state. (See link in the comments below for the No on 2117 campaign) Let's keep this momentum going! If you want to learn more about these exciting developments, the impact of the CCA, or how your port can join the electrification movement, don't hesitate to reach out. The Quiet Sound slowdown is approaching! As early as September 3rd, large commercial vessels are encouraged to reduce their speeds through Admiralty Inlet and north Puget Sound. This crucial measure helps reduce underwater noise, making it easier for the endangered Southern Resident killer whales to communicate and hunt. Learn more about how this initiative supports our local marine life and contributes to a quieter, healthier ocean environment: https://lnkd.in/gkPDDbVq #QuietSound #MarineConservation #SouthernResidentOrcas #SustainableShipping
