We are proud to share that WBK Engineering has finalized a sole source, direct award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with the Indian Health Service (IHS) to provide planning services on IHS projects over the next two years. Being selected for this contract means the federal agency can award contracts directly, and we are excited to begin work on three seed project task orders already assigned to our team. Since joining the Bodwé Professional Services Group in 2019, the team at WBK Engineering has enjoyed learning more about Indigenous cultures and building relationships with Tribal communities across the country. In honor of #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we reiterate our commitment to listening and understanding each community’s cultural heritage as we continue to work on projects that will benefit Tribal citizens of today and the generations that will follow. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #PokagonBand #CelebratingTribes #IndigenousCulture #SupportingTribes #LiftingNativeCommunities https://lnkd.in/gJ6a68Qv
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is not only a time to reflect on the history and contributions of Indigenous peoples but also serves as a reminder of the continued presence and resilience of Native communities. To honor this day, we’d like to share a short clip from an interview with Pokagon Elders Council Chairwoman Judy Winchester as she highlights the strides the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi has taken over the last 30 years as a sovereign nation to improve the quality of life for its citizens. We are proud to serve as one of the many companies under Mno-Bmadsen, the non-gaming investment enterprise of the Pokagon Band, and to contribute to the Band’s ability to invest in its community in meaningful ways, such as housing, healthcare, and education. Across Indigenous communities, people everywhere are wearing orange today in honor of #OrangeShirtDay, a day of remembrance and reconciliation for the Native students who were forced to attend residential boarding schools. Today and every day, WBK Engineering supports the truth that #EveryChildMatters, and we are committed to ensuring that every student feels safe and welcomed while on school grounds. If you are interested in learning more about the boarding school era, visit the Orange Shirt Society website: https://lnkd.in/gr_XNRtV #TruthandReconciliation #ResidentialBoardingSchools #BoardingSchoolEra #IndigenousHistory
The history of American Indian residential boarding schools is a troubled one. Today, September 30th, we recognize #OrangeShirtDay and honor the Native students who never returned home, those who ran away and were never found, and those who, decades later, are still healing from their experiences. Working as a #triballyowned family of companies on a range of tribal projects across the country, we understand how the boarding school era has affected Indigenous communities and how this complex history impacts current educational design work. Please join us as we take time to raise awareness of the experiences that took place at residential boarding schools and promote the truth that every child matters. For more information and resources, visit the Orange Shirt Society website: https://lnkd.in/gr_XNRtV. #EveryChildMatters #TruthandReconciliation #ResidentialBoardingSchools #BoardingSchoolEra #IndigenousHistory

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi has always been a Tribe, and it was on September 21, 1994, that the U.S. government officially reaffirmed the Pokagon Band as a federally recognized sovereign nation. To honor this important milestone in the Band’s history, the day has since been officially recognized as Pokagon Sovereignty Day. Thirty years later, we continue to celebrate alongside Pokagon citizens and join them in reflection of the Band’s journey over the years, while always being led by the values of Wisdom, Love, Respect, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Bravery. Judy Winchester, a Pokagon Elder and Chairwoman of the Pokagon Band Elders Council, recently sat down with us to explain more about how the Band’s federal reaffirmation has led to great progress in their quality of life and cultural sustainability. Hear more from Judy in this short clip, and watch the full-length video here: https://lnkd.in/gzsHgdFB As a #triballyowned family of companies, Bodwé Group is proud of our contributions that support the growth of the Pokagon Band’s legacy and economy. Today, our offices are closed as we take time to recognize Sovereignty Day and its significance, and we encourage our team members and all those interested in learning more about the history of the Pokagon Band to visit https://lnkd.in/ggD-7h98. #TribalSovereignty #IndigenousCulture #SovereignNation #FederalReaffirmation #IndianCountry #CulturalSustainability
