At WesleyLife, we're proud of our commitment to the health and safety of those who have placed their trust in us. That commitment begins with adherence to regulations for services and care that are established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the State of Iowa. Recently, state inspectors visited Wesley on Grand in Des Moines for a routine annual survey to ensure the community is adhering to those regulatory requirements. Congratulations to Executive Director Damon Buskohl and his team for being awarded a "deficiency-free" result — a rating earned by only about 5 percent of 400-plus senior living communities statewide. The annual state surveys, conducted over several days, cover more than 500 quality, safety and performance metrics such as medication management, needs assessments, respect for residents' rights, environment, admissions, and nutrition. The evaluations include a tour of each campus, a review of residents’ clinical records, and interviews with residents and family members about life inside the community. What does a deficiency-free rating mean to you as a Wesley on Grand resident, or as a family member of someone served in that community? It means you can rest assured that campus meets or exceeds ALL state and federal standards for service and care, ALL the time. We're happy our communities are able to provide you with this peace of mind, and we thank our WesleyLife and Wesley on Grand clinical teams and for having made it possible for the campus to achieve this stellar rating! #CMS #healthandwellbeing #deficiencyfree

Passionate about transforming attitudes toward aging.
About us
We don’t buy into the stigma of ageism. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a life of continued growth, experience, and meaning — and to pursue joy, regardless of physical, social, or economic circumstances. The experience of aging is shaped by each person — as they see it, define it, and experience it. To demonstrate our commitment to this belief, we have taken up the torch to be the most dynamic and inclusive champion to revolutionize the experience of aging. We serve residents of independent and assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory support. We also offer clients services including home care, adult day, home-delivered meals, and hospice. As a nonprofit organization guided by Christian compassion, we were founded more than 75 years ago as a place for aging Methodist ministers and their spouses to call home. Today, our services are delivered by 1,300 part- and full-time passionate team members throughout the state with a focus on creating opportunities to pursue joy!

Involvement with the greater communities in which they are located is a priority for all WesleyLife's Communities for Healthy Living. At Wesley on Grand in Des Moines recently, team members and residents joined together to embody John Wesley's message ("Do all the good you can") by donating items to Greenwood Elementary School for students whose families have a difficult time affording supplies. We are proud of you, Wesley on Grand, for making a difference! #communityinvolvement #organizationalculture #healthandwellbeing

Today is National Be a Good Teammate Day, created several years ago to encourage team members to value and support one another. In observance of the day, Phonsavanh Lovan Sullins, project coordinator with WesleyLife's home office in Johnston, talks about the attributes that make up a great team member. Take a moment to watch - then go thank someone on YOUR team! #beagoodteammateday #organizationalculture #healthandwellbeing

As part of its CultureALL diversity and inclusion platform, The Village, a WesleyLife Community in Indianola, Iowa, welcomed Josie Shaw, a native of Kenya and a member of the Luhya tribe, last week to share about her heritage. Josie came to the United States in 1989 to attend college in Missouri. In addition to sharing about her culture, she advocates for Swahili-speaking immigrants, many of whom are refugees from Central and East Africa. She also works as a translator and is involved in helping African refugees by delivering donated items and assisting them with paperwork. Learning and sharing about one another makes us stronger as an organization. Thanks to The Village and our other Communities for Heathy Living for prioritizing events like this one! #diversityandinclusion #healthandwellbeing Heather Venz-Frank

Saturday was a special day for our WesleyLife Hospice team - a part of WesleyLife at Home - and the clients and families they've served. The team hosted its annual Hospice Memorial Butterfly Release, a celebration of life and remembrance, at Maytag Park in Newton. About 125 family members and other loved ones attended and enjoyed connection, music, refreshments, and the release of butterflies to commemorate loved ones. A big "thank you" to our compassionate, dedicated team, as well as to all who attended - and to the Maytag Family Foundation for making the event possible!

National Personal Chef Day is this week. And while chefs in WesleyLife's Communities for Healthy Living can't be described as personal chefs, they customize menus to satisfy so many palates that their jobs are akin to personal service for hundreds of people on any given day. Read about one of them — and how he used the occasion of his community's redevelopment to meet the wants and needs of a changing customer base. #culinary #healthandwellbeing #chef #nationalpersonalchefday https://lnkd.in/dhDzU782
