Fun Facts for a Friday! Here are some Fun Facts about our future Winston-Salem SHRM president, Nathan DiBagno: How did you get interested in/into the HR field? I was working with a community newspaper group as a regional director, and I realized that the most important aspect of my job revolved around finding the right people: hiring the right people, training them well, and making sure their skills were utilized correctly. I that the most important part of any business revolves around its people. The vision, strategy, finances, and even processes are useless unless you have the right people. I decided to start my own business in 2015, and I chose a staffing and recruiting business. AtWork Personnel is franchise based with about 90 locations throughout the country, and I own and run the Winston-Salem, NC branch. As a small business owner and manager, l need to be aware of all aspects of Human Resources, but talent acquisition is my favorite part because it allows me to connect good candidates with opportunities for them to grow and serve others. What is your favorite book? The Bible. I realize that is technically a compilation of 66 books. Of those 66, my favorites are Romans, Galatians, and Proverbs. Romans and Galatians weave together teachings on grace and faith and how they spur to Christ-honoring living, while Provers offers amazing and timeless truths about life. What is the best part of your job? Putting people to work in the right positions. However, that is just the culmination of much more work beneath the scenes. Our staffing agency needs to constantly refine its processes and make efficient use of its time to offer good service. I enjoy finding solutions to problems and refining our processes. What is your favorite way to spend a day off? Going on some outing or activity with my wife and kids. Also, I enjoy reading and writing.

Right out of college, I joined my dad in our family business and was placed in the HR Role as an immediate need; I fell in love with the responsibility of making sure the employee’s work experience is positive and gratifying. An individual’s career is important to one’s overall well-being. What is your favorite book? 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – The habits highlighted in this book are the building blocks to success. What is the best part of your job? I enjoy helping team members through a hard situation, giving words of advice, and providing a work environment that is conducive to growth and development. What is your favorite way to spend a day off? Hiking or kayaking in the mountains and hanging out with my husband and chocolate lab, Izzy
