In a recent survey of more than 1,000 workers over 40 years old, Resume Now found that 9 in 10 had experienced age-related discrimination at work. Among other findings: ■ Half of older workers reported earning less than younger colleagues who do the same job ■ 44% reported depression because of age-related bias ■ 94% related that ageism limits their access to professional development and training opportunities ■ 91% have considered legal action against their employer ■ 11% reported having an employer who physically isolates older workers, having faced unfair discipline due to age-related physical challenges, and having faced a layoff that focused mainly on older employees

Ghosting — a common term in the dating scene today — is also happening in the job market. It’s when an applicant and hiring manager form an initial connection, have several rounds of solid interviews, and then the manager goes radio silent — never to make contact with the candidate again. Ghosting in dating is considered disrespectful, inconsiderate and downright rude — and it’s the exact same on the job hunt. In fact, disgruntled candidates are taking to anonymous platforms to warn others about their experiences. The share of Glassdoor interview reviews mentioning ghosting are up 11% this year, according to a report from the platform. Remote workers often find time to slip in household tasks and other duties during the workday, but also leisure activities — like watching TV. In fact, Gen Z employees are watching almost an hour of TV daily while working, according to an analysis from TollFreeForwarding.com based on time use survey data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In a year, they can watch the entire series of Friends — all 236 episodes — nearly two and a half times over, that report found.
