Employers are searching for ways to connect with their people, and enlisting a culture carrier could be a solution. #worklife

Following the return to offices comes the return to in-person job interviews. And more companies are choosing to vet candidates at the offices they’ll be expected to work from and set that expectation early, workplace experts say. ”The recruiting landscape has changed with return to offices, and part of the return to in person interviews is setting that expectation about coming into the office,” said Jamie Kohn, a senior research director in Gartner’s human resource practice. Awareness around neurodiversity in the workplace continues to grow, along with new diagnoses for some conditions, like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). New diagnoses for ADHD across all age groups have risen in recent years, according to data from electronic health record vendor Epic. But among adults, women are largely driving the rise, with the percentage of women ages 23 to 49 newly diagnosed with ADHD nearly doubling from 2020 to 2022. #neurodiversity #adhd In this piece by Hailey Mensik, we speak to Denise Murray, Sham Singh of WinIt, and Jodie Hill of Thrive Law.

With the rise of AI, our technology is thinking more — even as the newest generation of workers may be thinking less. That’s the conclusion of a groundbreaking study encompassing nearly 400,000 respondents and spanning 160 countries, revealing that Gen Z employees trust their instincts far less than any previous generation — signaling a fundamental shift in how corporate leaders of the future could approach decision making. #genz In this piece by Tony Case, we speak to Michelle Duval of Marlee, and Jaycee Schwarz of Prizeout.

With 9 in 10 workers struggling to stay focused and distracted minds costing the American economy $468 billion a year, could music be the secret to sharpening our focus? According to various studies, songs in the 50-80 beats per minute (BPM) range can help put one’s brain in a more focused and creative zone. Some have even devised the perfect work playlist — like this one featuring Queen, Taylor Swift and Imagine Dragons. Or this, with tunes by Katy Perry, Adele and Bruno Mars. #worklife #music

Getting time off work to deal with and recover from potentially traumatizing personal situations like sexual assault, domestic violence and harrasment isn’t possible for many victims. There isn’t a federal law in the U.S. mandating such leave, just patchwork state laws that outline employers must give some time off. In some states, laws actually make victims use their sick leave. In many, the leave they can take isn’t paid. #paidleave Read more: https://lnkd.in/eUsqbwTY

The RTO trend also means the return of a familiar staple of office life: the holiday party. And with the season for celebration right around the corner, employees may be gearing up for party time, but HR could be in for a big headache. The pandemic no doubt brought looser rules around work. But that doesn’t mean any less is expected of employees when it comes to propriety, and that includes company-sponsored gatherings with colleagues. #holidayparty #worklife In this piece by Tony Case, we speak to Annie Rosencrans of HiBob, and Lucy Cobb of BrightHR.

Ageism is an unfortunate reality of the work world — with HR leaders often hard-pressed to find solid solutions to widespread bias against workers of a certain age. “Current policies and workplace dynamics are failing to protect employees from age-related discrimination,” said Heather O’Neill, career expert at the resume-design platform Resume Now. “We need stronger tools, more comprehensive education and targeted training to put an end to this epidemic.” In a recent survey of more than 1,000 workers over 40 years old, Resume Now found that 9 in 10 had experienced age-related discrimination at work. #HR #ageism In this piece by Tony Case, we also speak to Rebecca Samarasinghe Perrault of Magnit, Mona Mourshed of Generation, David Bator, and Michael Clinton of ROAR Forward.

In an era where personalization is paramount, many businesses are falling short when it comes to tailoring employee benefits to the diverse needs of their workforces. A recent study by U.K.-based Towergate Health & Protection, based on responses from 500 HR leaders, uncovered a striking disparity in employee benefits, potentially impacting recruitment and retention as well as employee satisfaction. Despite three-quarters of employers getting employee requests for specific and targeted benefits by demographics, according to the survey, 4 in 10 companies offer the same benefits to all employees regardless of age, lifestyle or risk profile. The survey found that 7 in 10 employers would like to target their employee benefits but find it too complicated to do so. #benefits #employeebenefits Read more: https://lnkd.in/e9CrC8tp
