A recent study from Mercer projects that the U.S. could see a shortage of 100,000 healthcare workers by 2028, with nursing assistants the most severely affected. A nursing assistant deficit could put an additional burden on registered nurses and exacerbate the factors leading to burnout. To combat labor shortages, health systems must develop strategic plans and innovative tactics for attracting and retaining talent. Many health systems have turned to Works to optimize their workforce, reduce their reliance on contingent labor, and increase staff retention.
