Barriers are meant to be broken. This #DayoftheGirl, we’re celebrating the remarkable resilience of girls like Jamira and Obitu, who are breaking barriers in Malawi and Ethiopia. Jamira and Obitu participated in multi-sectoral World Vision initiatives that are equipping girls with the tools to overcome barriers and thrive. In Malawi, the Able to Thrive inclusive education initiatives enabled Jamira, who is deaf, to learn sign language and rewrite her future. In Ethiopia, the USAID-funded SPIR II program equipped Obitu with vocational training that enabled her to thrive economically so she could stay in school. Read more about how we are equipping the next generation of girls to build brighter futures in our latest photo blog—and join us in breaking down barriers for girls worldwide! https://lnkd.in/eAqk7jFc #InclusiveEducation #EconomicEmpowerment World Vision Malawi

World Vision is the largest nongovernmental provider of clean water in the developing world. But when Hurricane Helene damaged infrastructure and clean water access in North Carolina, it provided an opportunity to leverage that expertise right here in the U.S. And we're not the only nonprofit responding this way. Read on for stories of hope at home. https://lnkd.in/g9rvDpsC #DisasterResponse #WorldVision #WorldVisionUSA #HurricaneRelief #HurricaneHelene #HurricaneMilton #HEA #EmergencyResponse

In World Vision’s school WASH programs, we are doing more—going beyond an infrastructure-focused approach to include behavior-focused initiatives that ensure every student has access to inclusive, equitable, and accessible services. That’s because millions of students around the world face challenges due to poor water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions at school that disrupt learning—particularly for girls. Discover how our program enhancements are transforming school environments and empowering children globally. 🌍 Our own Kristie Urich, CKM shares the details here: https://lnkd.in/eEKwwkT5 Sesame Workshop World Vision Zimbabwe World Vision Kenya WorldVision GT World Vision El Salvador World Vision Honduras #WorldVisionWater #WaterandSanitation4All #WASHinSchools

Excited to announce that World Vision is sponsoring and presenting at the UNC Water and Health Conference! 💧 Join us—and our partners London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London, Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), and iDE (International Development Enterprises)—to explore key learnings and identify evidence needed to scale district-wide sanitation and hygiene solutions, ensuring no one is left behind. 💧 In partner-led sessions with Emory University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London, iDE (International Development Enterprises), Splash International, and others, we'll highlight #genderequality and social inclusion in WASH. Topics include the connection between water access and women's economic empowerment, plus the intersection of climate, menstrual health, and disability inclusion. 💧 For the first time, we’re presenting findings from a multi-year randomized trial in India with Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and OPM Global India, showcasing how sustainable WASH service delivery and play-based education empower students to form healthy habits. World Vision is committed to reaching everyone, everywhere we work with sustainable WASH services, in pursuit of #SDG6, with the goal of reaching 50 million people across more than 40 countries by 2030. Please join us in-person or virtually! Find details of each presentation here https://lnkd.in/gXsw-Www #UNCWaterandHealth

In North Carolina, World Vision staff are on the ground responding to the effects of #HurricaneHelene. Swannanoa, a community of 11,000 east of #Asheville has become an area of focus. This town was vulnerable before the storm hit. With a poverty rate over 18%, many live in trailers and manufactured homes. As flood waters rose, mud poured in destroying homes and leaving devastation. Unfortunately, even as debris is being cleared from affected areas, in other places, new evacuation orders are under effect as #HurricaneMilton approaches Florida, with an expected landfall near Tampa Bay. OUR RESPONSE: We have already sent thirteen trailer loads of relief supplies to heavy hit areas. This product was either donated in advance by corporate partners or purchased through cash donations. Five more trailers are loaded with relief supplies and ready to depart our Storehouses in preparation for Milton. Over 5,000 individuals have received relief supplies, more will be reached in the coming days. We are working closely with local partners across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina to set up supply hubs where additional truckloads of food, water, hygiene products, and other essential items will be distributed. You can support children and families affected by disasters in the U.S. through: Cash grants/Donations: Help purchase items like clean water and to provide freight & support for donated products, allowing us to deliver donated goods to children and families in need. Employee/Customer fundraising campaigns: Raise support from your employees or customers through a cobranded fundraising page. Or launch a Point of Sale (POS) or roundup campaign. Product donations: Bottled water, generators, hygiene supplies and other immediate response items are needed in the near term. In the coming months, we will shift to rebuilding, and needs will shift to building materials as we help families rebuild their housing and their lives. Also, our response has diminished our supply of pre-positioned goods for the next disaster, and our store needs to be resupplied. ABOUT WORLD VISION U.S. DISASTER RESPONSE World Vision responds to both natural and man-made disasters in the U.S. every year. With 7 Storehouses, 60 affiliate partners, and over 3,600 local partners, our network allows us to respond fast with pre-positioned relief product as soon as a disaster hits. Because our partners are already working and living in the most vulnerable communities, they are able to direct and distribute aid effectively to make sure it gets to the people who need it the most--neighbors helping neighbors. Thank you for standing with us as we bring hope and recovery to those affected by disasters in the U.S. We are grateful for our partners, including Dick's Drive-In Restaurants, Reverse Logistics Association, Association of Water Technologies (AWT), McKesson, QVC, Hit Promotional Products, ACE Hardware, CULLIGAN CARES FOUNDATION, and Costco Wholesale.
