In Memoriam: Anton “Screw Doctor” Hagen It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anton Hagen, a cherished colleague, mentor, and friend of Xaloy. Anton left a lasting impact on our industry, and the Xaloy team, with a career that spanned five decades in injection molding and plastics manufacturing. Anton’s plastics journey began in the early 1970s as a mold toolmaker, where his first project was creating the initial mold for LEGO bricks in all colors. His career advanced to Stork® Plastics Machinery and Spirex in 1994, where he quickly rose to lead Spirex Europe. He played a key role in introducing innovative technologies like the MeltPro™ barrier screw and Twinshot® multi-material molding system. After Xaloy acquired Spirex in 2009, Anton remained a vital part of our European sales team, always eager to share his technical knowledge. His relentless dedication to customer satisfaction was evident in his work, whether developing new designs, troubleshooting challenges, or tirelessly traveling to collect process data and measure components. Multilingual and charismatic, Anton had a gift for connecting with people. His ability to speak at least four languages enabled him to nurture relationships across diverse markets, making him a familiar and respected figure throughout Germany and Austria. Many fondly referred to him as the “Screw Doctor,” a title that resonated with his relentless problem-solving spirit and his passion for his work. Beyond work, Anton brought joy, warmth, and laughter into our lives, making him more than just a colleague; his vibrant personality enriched our daily experiences. Even in retirement, this passion for life and creativity continued as he dedicated himself to developing screws for 3D applications in his home workshop. As we reflect on Anton’s life and contributions, we are grateful for the time we shared with him.
