This grant will support YES Prep’s College Initiatives Program, furthering our mission to overcome barriers and ensure student success in higher education. "The selection process was comprehensive and inspiring," says Elle Moody, Chief Grants Officer. "We are grateful for all applicants and thrilled to support these outstanding groups." The M-Pact Fund, part of the Moody Foundation’s $1 billion commitment to Texas education over 20 years, awarded grants to 32 exceptional organizations dedicated to transforming early learning and post-secondary success. Did you know? The official Juneteenth flag is deliberately designed in a red, white and blue color scheme just like the American flag, and has a white star in the center, meant to represent both Texas (the Lone Star State), as well as the freedom of enslaved people in all 50 states. Juneteenth celebration began with the freed slaves of Galveston, Texas. And while the Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves in the South in 1863, it could not be enforced in many places until after the end of the Civil War in 1865. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in June of 2021 and is celebrated nationwide with parades, concerts, parties and gatherings with family and friends. Today, let's celebrate Freedom Day! . . . #Juneteenth #FreedomDay
