These two young friends show us the true spirit of the Y. Mehkai and Gavin raised more than $1,450 for our Y Annual Campaign by holding bake sales! Their hearts for helping families who cannot afford to pay for swim lessons, summer day camp, or even participate in a team sport is an inspiration to all! If you want to donate today in honor of Gavin and Mehkai, just text "GIVING" to 71777 or visit https://lnkd.in/db3MzEzW

About us
The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living, and for social responsibility. A strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. At the Y, we measure the success of our cause by how well we engage communities in our three areas of impact. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Empowering young people to reach their full potential HEALTHY LIVING Improving individual and community well-being SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Providing support and inspiring action in our communities The Y is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life working side by side to strengthen communities. Together we work to ensure everyone—regardless of gender, income, faith, sexual orientation or cultural background—has the opportunity to live life to its fullest. We share the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility—everything we do stems from it. We know that the key to effectively nurturing the potential of children, improving the nation’s health and well-being and supporting our neighbors is a passionate, experienced and diverse array of staff, volunteers and members who value what everyone brings to the table.

🌀 Hurricane Helene has devastated YMCA Camp Greenville, and the damage is pretty overwhelming. Having worked at the YMCA of Greenville and gotten married at Pretty Place Chapel, this place means so much to me, and I know it does to so many people. I’m reaching out to YCG alumni, Y friends, and anyone who’s been impacted by the camp. If you can help in any way—donating, volunteering, or even just sharing the message—it would mean the world right now. You can donate directly here: https://lnkd.in/eMkdhYWT. 💚 Let’s help get Camp Greenville back on its feet. #YMCACampGreenville #ymca #ymcacamp #hurricanerelief #greenville #Ystrong

YMCA of Greenville President & CEO Sam Franklin was featured on national Fox News TV this morning talking about the destruction done to Pretty Place Chapel located at YMCA Camp Greenville. Despite the severe damage done by Hurricane Helene, the cross remains standing. In his interview, Franklin says, “Our Y is built on a rock… that is where the Lord says we need to be.” https://lnkd.in/enF7TkmZ

Our “Y” is TOGETHERHOOD and COMMUNITY. We are so grateful for Team Y USA for bringing supplies to Greenville and surrounding areas to help us support those who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. The YMCA is here for all and we are working hard to support our community and get our facilities ready to host you again.

As fall approaches, we have been reminiscing about summer. We want to thank L.L. Bean for giving the kids in our community a summer they will never forget. The scholarships L.L. Bean provided helped kids experience the outdoors and create memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you L.L. Bean! #ThankYouLLBean #BeanOutsider

In recognition of the Eastside Family YMCA Food Program volunteers who pack 170 bags of food every week for local families, veterans, and people struggling with food insecurity, we held a thank you luncheon hosted by House of Raeford Farms FLOCK. We also heard from Upstate Warrior Solution, St. Claire’s Home, and Brook Glenn Elementary who are just three of the groups we are able to impact. Thank you to our incredible volunteers and community partners!

Last night, while celebrating his upcoming retirement, Scot Baddley was awarded the Order of the Palmetto. He was given South Carolina’s highest civilian honor for his 20 years of leadership over the YMCA of Greenville. State Rep. Bruce Banister presented the award on behalf of the Office of Governor Henry McMaster. We are so proud and thankful for the work he has done in his decades of service. We believe there is no end to his career more fitting than this.
