For many years, the YMCA of South Palm Beach County has been a proud partner of Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (JFS), a local non-profit organization providing services and support to families in our community. Alongside the Y, partners such as JFS provides funding for qualifying individuals such as Boca Y parent, Claudia, to attend summer camp programs at the Y. She describes the impact that camp has had on her children. “Our family cannot thank JFS and the Y enough for making it possible for our triplets to attend summer camp at the Y. Because of their generosity, our kids have been able to attend camp over the last 3 years! Camp provides the opportunity to go on field trips once a week to different locations, and they have gone to the Science Museum, movies, bowling, water parks, just to name a few. They swim daily, participate in arts and crafts, play outdoor games and have made numerous new friends! It has been such a rewarding experience for them and also a safe way to spend the summer.” #WeAreFamily #RalesJFS #YMCASPBC #Ycamp #summercamp

In 1986, Eugene and Christine donated funds to enclose the Aquatics Center at the Boca YMCA in order to allow for year-round usage and enjoyment of pool activities including swim lessons, water aerobics, swim team, lap swimming and important drowning prevention and water safety programs. In honor of their generosity and leadership for the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, June 29 has been designated as the “Eugene and Christine Lynn Legacy Day”. Our YMCA has been a vital, community anchor for over 50 years. Since 1972, the YMCA of South Palm Beach County has proudly served the community, supporting tens of thousands of children and adults from all walks of life. From learning to walk, to learning to swim, from supporting families to aiding cancer survivors, the Y helps everyone become stronger in spirit, mind and body. But now, people in our community are increasingly in need, especially our most vulnerable. Where some see challenges, we see possibilities. And today, we have the opportunity to build on our YMCA’s strong foundation. That’s why we are launching the ‘Building Possibilities’ Campaign, a 3-year effort to boost our YMCA’s Reach, Relevance, and Mission Impact. But we can't do this alone. The last few weeks our Water Safety team has been hard at work teaching Drowning Prevention and safety skills to youth in Palm Beach County! Students have learned to ask permission, reach or throw- don't go and the life-saving skills of floating! Each group receives eight 30-minute swim lessons, at no cost. These initiatives are made possible due to the generosity of our Water Safety and Drowning Prevention partners and sponsors! #watersafety #drowningprevention #ymcaspbc #swimlessons @milagrocenter

Our Boynton YMCA partnered with the Caridad Center and held a free New Worlds Reading event at their Boynton Beach facility. More than 160 people participated in fun family reading activities which were presented in English and Spanish and led by trained YMCA staff. All in attendance received a free book and literacy goodie bag. Thanks to funding from the University of Florida, New Worlds Reading is a free at-home literacy program designed to help kids who are not yet reaching grade-level reading expectations. Participants receive free books and activities delivered to their homes every month. The community event also included bounce houses, free backpacks and school supplies provided by the Caridad Center, dental and vision services and more. In addition, families enjoyed a free BBQ dinner from local food truck, Mistah Lee's Smokin' Good BBQ. #ymcaspbc #youthdevelopment @newworldsreading @caridadcenter
